The Department of Revenue is the primary agency for collecting tax revenues that support state and local governments in Mississippi.

Information about the various taxes administered, access to online filing, and forms can be found at www.dor.ms.gov

The Department of Revenue is responsible for titling and registration of motor vehicles, monitoring ad valorem assessments throughout the state to ensure consistent appraisal and valuation of properties among the municipalities and counties of the state, enforcement of Mississippi's Prohibition and Local Option Law and operating as the wholesale distributor of alcoholic beverages. Congratulations to our recent Employee of the Month, Dominetrix, who is a Revenue Specialist at the Department of Revenue. She was nominated by her supervisor, Heather, who had this to say:

"Dominetrix has served DOR for over seven years. In her time here, she has grown tremendously as an agent. Her work performance is consistently outstanding on all evaluations. She strives to do her best, no matter the circumstances and offers a calming presence to taxpayers and co-workers providing great customer service in a difficult role in our department.

Dominetrix demonstrates strong work ethic, reliability, and serves as a great asset to DOR. She is very deserving of the title of Employee of the Month!"

Through several activities including taxation, licensing, registrations and the wholesaling of alcoholic beverages, our agency serves as the primary vehicle for funding state and local services that citizens use every day.

Congratulations to our Quarterly Excellence in Leadership recipient, Emily, who is the Deputy Office Director of Business Tax Administration. She was nominated by her manager, Greg, who had this to say:

"Emily has been with the DOR for 15 years. She began her career as a field auditor before being promoted to audit manager, where she demonstrated strong leadership potential. For the past three years, she has served as Deputy Office Director providing supervision and guidance for the Petroleum Tax Bureau and the Sales and Use Tax Bureau.

Throughout her career, Emily has demonstrated a passion for excellence and a positive, can-do attitude. She works closely with her staff, takes on new challenges with determination and collaborates with other departments to help accomplish DOR goals.

Her dedication and commitment to excellence exemplify the qualities recognized by the Excellence in Leadership Award.

The 2026 Second Amendment Sales Tax Holiday is happening today through Sunday, August 30. During this timeframe sales tax will not apply on the sale of fi****ms, ammunition and certain hunting supplies as outlined in the Official Guide.
