Prohibition and Local Option Law and operating as the wholesale distributor of alcoholic beverages. New procedures for titling abandoned vehicles go into effect July 1.

Any person authorized to execute the sale or disposal of an abandoned vehicle must do the following within 7 days of receipt of the vehicle:

- Provide proper notification to the owner and/or lienholder via certified mail
- Use a third-party vendor approved through the Mississippi Department of Revenue

To ensure Mississippians receive accurate and efficient service, employees at the Mississippi Department of Revenue (DOR) are committed to ongoing learning and professional development. ​

As part of that commitment, team members from across the state recently attended mandatory legislative update sessions to gain a better understanding of new laws enacted during this year’s legislative session. ​

These meetings also provided an opportunity for employees to ask questions, share insights, and prepare for the implementation of new legislative changes that will impact agency operations and the taxpayers we serve.

- Serve as the primary agency contact for a group of Mississippi counties

- Work with locally elected officials and their staff to provide technical assistance and guidance

- Ensure county compliance with statutory mandates and agency regulations

- Assist with the research and development of appraisal schedules and guidelines

The annual certification and re-certification filing period for cigarette and Electronic Ni****ne Delivery System (ENDS) product manufacturers is now open. ​

Manufacturers can submit certifications and re-certifications beginning today, June 1. The DOR maintains monthly updated directories for cigarette and ENDS products through the Taxpayer Access Point (TAP). ​

This program is about gaining valuable insights, building meaningful relationships, further developing leadership skills, and learning from experienced mentors along the way. All of which help us to better serve Mississippi. ​

The program includes 12 DOR executive leaders with an experience level of over 260 years! These leaders will mentor 12 DOR managers specifically chosen to participate. ​
