Hunterdon County Fire Chief's Association The Hunterdon County Fire Chief's Association was established in 1951.

The HCFCA is made up of Chiefs and other line officers from 29 of the 30 fire departments that cover Hunterdon County. The HCFCA meets every other month to discuss common issues of the fire service in Hunterdon County. The HCFCA works with Hunterdon County to aid in setting policies that make Hunterdon a safer place for firefighters and the general public. The association also brings training opportunities to our firefighters and works to help reduce costs.

Shortly after 10:00 AM today, the Raritan Township Fire Company responded to a reported vehicle fire on Route 12.

Upon arrival, crews found an active fire in the vehicle’s engine compartment. RTFC members quickly stretched a line and made quick work of the fire, bringing it under control.
Squad 21, Engine 21-1, Brush 21, Assistant 21, and Chief 21 operated on scene before clearing in under 45 minutes.

RTFC was assisted by the Raritan Township Fire Marshal’s Office, Raritan Township Police Department, and New Jersey State Police

Earlier in the year the Hunterdon County Board of Commissioners offered $500,000 in grant money to agency’s that provide Fire and EMS services to the county.

A total of 38 agencies submitted for this opportunity. I am pleased to announce that the Bloomsbury Hose Co received $11,750.

This grant will be used to purchase MDT (computers) for all of our vehicles. We will now have the world at our finger tips. Mostly it will increase safety and proficiency.

Last night’s monthly drill consisted of removing the deck gun from the engine and attaching it to the portable base to deliver a large volume of water in a constant stream. The deck gun can then be positioned to knock back flames or cool off nearby exposures to prevent the fire from spreading or causing structural damage. With The Union Hotel back in action, members are reviewing all the techniques that could assist with the new parking garages and multiple story towers.
