NOTICE OF REPUBLICAN PARTY CAUCUS

Notice is hereby given pursuant to Indiana Code 3-13-1-17, Indiana Code 3-13-1-6, Indiana Code 3-13-1-8 through 3-13-1-11, and the rules of the Indiana Republican Party, that the Vermillion County Republican Party will conduct a Republican Party Caucus for the purpose of selecting a nominee for the office of Vermillion County Council Member – District 2 for placement on the 2026 General Election ballot.

A candidate vacancy exists under Indiana law due to a tie vote occurring during the May 5, 2026 Republican Primary Election. Indiana Code specifically provides that a tie vote in a primary election creates a candidate vacancy to be filled by caucus.
The caucus will be held as follows:
Date: Monday, May 18, 2026
Time: 6:30 PM
Location: Private Caucus Private Caucus (Media Will Be Invited for Transparency)

This caucus shall be a private caucus conducted in accordance with Indiana election law and the rules of the Indiana Republican Party.
Voting eligibility shall be limited to the duly elected or appointed Republican Precinct Committeemen eligible under Indiana Code to participate in the caucus for this office, specifically the precincts of:
Fairview 1
Fairview 2
Dana
East Helt
St. Bernice

The five (5) eligible Republican Precinct Committeemen shall cast ballots to select the Republican nominee for Vermillion County Council Member – District 2.
Pursuant to Indiana Code 3-13-1-11, if more than one candidate seeks nomination, the selection shall be conducted by secret ballot and the nominee shall be selected by a majority vote of those casting a vote for a candidate.

This caucus is being conducted pursuant to the authority granted under:
Indiana Code 3-13-1-17 — Vacancy existing because of tie vote in primary election
Indiana Code 3-13-1-6 — Local office candidate vacancies filled by caucus
Indiana Code 3-13-1-8 — Meeting called and chaired by county chairman
Indiana Code 3-13-1-9 — Requirements for caucus notice
Indiana Code 3-13-1-10 — Eligibility to participate in caucus
Indiana Code 3-13-1-11 — Caucus procedures and secret ballot requirements
Applicable Rules of the Indiana Republican Party
