Findlay Township Police Department Welcome to the official page of the Findlay Township Police Department. This page exists for informational purposes only, and is not monitored 24/7.

If you need to file a report or speak with an officer, please call (724) 695-7777 or 911. The Findlay Township Police Department is a full-time agency, providing 24 hour law enforcement services to the residents and visitors of Findlay Township. The department is responsible for over 32 square miles, making Findlay Township the largest municipality by area in Allegheny County, next to the City of

Pittsburgh. The department employs 21 full time officers and 8 full time dispatchers. These officers provide the basic patrol function of the department, as well as several additional services. These services include, but are not limited to, a Criminal Investigations Function, Canine Function, and Community Relations Function, which also provides a School Resource Officer to the West Allegheny School District. As a department, we strive to provide the highest level of service, and conduct ourselves with the utmost professionalism and integrity. We achieve this through community oriented policing, consistently interacting with the public, and welcoming feedback so that we can constantly improve. We also ensure that our officers receive the highest level of training, through an extensive Field Training program for new officers, and continued relevant and realistic training, which is conducted within the department, as well as jointly with surrounding area police departments. We hope that this page will encourage you to work more closely with the department to keep the community a safe place to live and work. Please be courteous and respectful in your comments, and understand that the Findlay Township Police Department reserves the right to remove any posts or comments that are deemed offensive or inappropriate. In case of emergency, please call (724) 695-7777 or 911.

Our officers are conducting proactive community outreach to address the massive surge in electric bikes (e-bikes) and electric scooters (e-scooters) in our neighborhoods, driven by a dramatic increase in injuries and fatalities nationwide.

This local crisis mirrors a severe national spike; data from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission shows that micromobility fatalities jumped from just five in 2017 to 135 in 2024, while nationwide emergency room visits quadrupled from 37,300 to 149,100 during that same timeframe. This trajectory heavily outpaces traditional recreation, as peer-reviewed national trauma data indicates that annual e-bike injuries have soared by over 99% year-over-year, while injuries and hospitalizations for conventional, non-electrical bicycles have remained statistically flat.

Our number one goal is keeping your kids and our community safe. To do that, our officers will be stepping up face-to-face contacts with riders. If we see a violation, we will stop and talk. If the rider is a juvenile, we will be reaching out directly to parents to ensure everyone understands the rules. We are launching this initiative with a clear, two-phased approach:

Phase 1: Contact & Education. Our initial focus is talking with riders, explaining the rules, and partnering with parents to keep kids safe.
See attached Micromobility Flier and additional Legal Reference
Phase 2: Citations & Enforcement. After this educational window, officers will transition to issuing formal citations and handling repeating or hazardous violations strictly.

If you see our officers out making contact, please know they are out there looking out for your family.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support!
