As EMS Week wraps up, we send a big “Thank you” to every team member who showed up for each other last week. Across departments, stations, and our service area, people took time to recognize the dedication and commitment of those who provide care and service for the patients who place their trust in us.

Our leadership team visited stations for breakfasts and cookouts, presented awards and prizes, and spent time with the team members from every department. It was a great week of connection, recognition, and appreciation!

EMS Week is one week. Our team works the other 51 too, whatever the patient needs, wherever the call takes them. We're proud of the care and service this team delivers, and thankful for a chance to say so.

Medstar provides EMT training with no tuition and no debt. Upon licensure, you begin full time employment in our field training program, and on to your career as an EMT.

Classes run at our Detroit and Clinton Township locations. You'll learn from and train with our team members who've spent years in the field and in the classroom, and you'll be helping your community from day one.

After becoming a full time EMT with Medstar, you are qualified to begin our free, in-house paramedic program to advance your clinical knowledge and scope of care.

Medstar was honored to host Troop #76956 from the greater Flint area. They represent Kearsley, Genesee, Grand Blanc, Flint Cultural Center Academy, and St. Robert's in Flushing. The girls earned their First Aid Badge by listing people or jobs that perform first aid and those who treat injuries on the job. They learned to treat minor injuries like cuts and scrapes, and when they should call 911 and what they should say. Each girl received first aid kits and got to check an ambulance!

The son of a patient we transported had great things to say about Medstar EMT's Teona "Tee" Hull and Victor Zhao.

He writes: "I wanted to drop a quick note of ‘Thanks’, for ‘Tee’ and Victor that helped transport my Mom from Story Point in Clinton Township, to Henry Ford on 19 Mile.

My Mom suffers from Dementia & Alzheimer’s, and had a fall earlier in the day at her apartment. MedStar Staff also transported her to Henry Ford which I’m equally grateful for. Tee and Victor showed exceptional patience & professionalism in dealing with a patient not of sound mind, which also made it comforting to me as well. Both should be commended for their gentle approach to the elderly, and ensuring that despite some combative behavior, their Patient’s needs were fully met.
