🔥 Reminder: Stage 2 Fire Restrictions Remain in Effect

With the hot and dry conditions we've been experiencing, we want to remind everyone that Stage 2 Fire Restrictions are still in effect.

These restrictions are in place to help reduce the risk of human-caused fires and protect our community safe.

On July 30, 2026, at approximately 3:52 p.m., Clifton Fire Protection District responded to the area of 32 Road and Highview Road for a reported residential structure fire.

Upon arrival, crews found the front porch fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters quickly initiated an aggressive fire attack, preventing the fire from extending further into the residence.

There were no reported civilian or firefighter injuries.

Clifton Fire Protection District extends its appreciation to the Mesa County Sheriff's Office for their assistance and Grand Junction Fire Department for their quick response.

Today, we pause to remember former Clifton Fire Protection District Fire Chief Wayne Pond, who passed away on July 7, 2026.

Chief Pond's leadership and dedication helped shape the Clifton Fire Protection District into the organization it is today. We are honored to share the heartfelt remembrance below, written by former Fire Chief Kent Holsan, reflecting on Wayne's life, service, and legacy.

Our thoughts remain with Wayne's family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and serving alongside him.
