CAPTAIN COMMUNITY HUMAN SERVICES ONCE AGAIN OFFERING FREE SUMMER MEALS TO SARATOGA COUNTY YOUTH
June 2, 2026 – CAPTAIN Community Human Services (CHS) and its partners, including the United Way of the Greater Capital Region, Mechanicville Area Community Services Center (MACSC), Shenendehowa School District, Regional Food Bank, and C.R.E.A.T.E. Community Studios, are once again offering Free Summer Meals to youth throughout Saratoga County, with a kick-off event taking place on Thursday, July 9th from10:00am – 12:00pm at the Park Ave playground in Mechanicville NY (at the intersection of Park Ave and N6th Ave).
The Free Summer Meals collaboration with local sites and agencies began in 2013. At the time, 4,000 meals were served at six sites to 348 kids. Today, over 13,000 meals are served at 18 locations throughout Saratoga County.
Managed by the NYS Department of Education under the direction of, and through funding from, the USDA, along with supplemental funding from our local United Way of the Greater Capital Region and No Kid Hungry, the Free Summer Meals program provides meals to youth ages 18 and under at locations throughout Saratoga County.
Free Summer Meals will be provided to all youth ages 18 and under at 20 locations throughout Saratoga County from June 26th to September 4th. All open sites are listed on the CAPTAIN CHS

Attendees can expect nutritious, balanced food options with fun activities and farmers market pop-ups at many locations throughout the summer.
