If you have ever wondered why good people do not go into politics, I can answer that question. As the Three Rivers News Dispatch editor, I have written numerous fact-based articles about our local government and community events for the past three years. I knew that when I ran for Mayor of Cleves, I would be subjected to personal attacks and half-truths. I have run a clean campaign against my opponent, Kyle E. Smith, and his campaign manager, Judith Boyce. They have not.
While Mr. Smith has called me names, insulted my wife on Facebook, and, most recently, Mrs. Boyce's untruthful claims that I have sent her hateful and threatening emails, taken pictures of her hiding behind bushes, tried to shut down the Cleves Farmer's Market, I have remained silent. Mrs. Boyce's scurrilous attacks about me should end after her court performance and loss today.
Mrs. Boyce attempted to secure a Courtordered Protection Order (Stalking) again today. After giving her testimony today, all of it was false; without any evidence, she lost her case. Her case and testimony were so bad and frivolous that I did not have to testify because my attorney asked the magistrate for a directed verdict in my favor. That request was accepted.
Tomorrow, I will pay for a complete transcript of the court proceedings. After receiving that report, I will write a story in the Three Rivers News Dispatch revealing her testimony. There were no documents submitted by Mrs. Boyce that verified her assertions. In other words, she has slandered me. People on Nextdoor demanded that Mrs. Boyce and Mr. Smith produce evidence to prove their allegations. They did NOT! She provided no evidence today, either.
During the past month, I was interviewed by two detectives from the Hamilton County Prosecutor's Office who effectively distracted my campaign; I caught Kyle E. Smith, Council person Judith Boyce, Mayor Stephen Myers, and Council person—Tiffiney Myers behind locked council doors on October 11, 2023, before the regular meeting. I then forced Village Solicitor Doug Nicholas to confirm that all four were in council chambers. Mr. Nicholas stated that their discussions were just innocent chit-chat and not a violation of the Open Meetings Act. My complaint was not an Open Meetings Complaint; it was a claim of the inappropriateness of our current mayor and two council persons privately meeting with my opponent.
It's just a curious fact to close this post that October 11, 2023, the date of our last council meeting, is the same date Mrs. Boyce filed against me in court and the innocent chit-chat behind closed doors took place among the Myers, Mrs. Boyce, and Kyle E Smith. Just a coincidence? Right!
Stay tuned; once I get the official transcript, I will tell you the names of two people Mrs Boyce said in her testimony who advised her to file this frivolous complaint.
