At approximately 12:31 on Thursday May 7, the Clever Fire Protection District was dispatched to Gordon's Feed Mill for a grain bin entrapment. While enroute additional units from Christian County and the surrounding area were requested to assist with the rescue. Upon arrival one patient was found to be entrapped in a grain bin and rescue efforts were started immediately.

After a very complex and dangerous operation, crews were able to extricate the victim from the bin. Medical attention and resuscitation efforts were started immediately. Unfortunately, due to the extent of the incident, the patient did not survive.

Incidents like this require extensive coordination from all to aid in the specialized rescue techniques and teamwork needed to ensure the safest possible outcome for all involved. Unfortunately these incidents do not always end the way we would hope, but the efforts put forth today proved the unwavering commitment and support the CFPD and surrounding areas have for their communities.

Today is International Firefighters’ Day, and we want to take a moment to recognize the men and women of the Clever Fire Protection District.

Our team doesn't just work here, we live here. We’re your neighbors, your friends, and your coworkers who drop everything when the tones go off to keep our community safe. To our volunteers: thank you for your selfless service and the sacrifices you (and your families) make every day.

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR NORTHERN CHRISTIAN COUNTY until 5:30PM.

The sirens may be sounding in Billings and Clever due to large and damaging hail.

Sirens are not yet being activated in Nixa or Ozark as we continue to monitor the storm with Christian County Emergency Management and the US National Weather Service Springfield Missouri.

Good morning, Clever! ☀️
We’ve got boots on the ground at the 5k walk/run this morning! 🏃‍♂️💨 We are so proud to have three of our own firefighters out on the course today, Kaiden Wiseman, Landen Flood, and our Chief Dozer!
Be sure to give them a wave or a high-five if you see them out there.
Look for the Clever Fire Protection District engine at the finish line! We’ll be stationed there with some water and sports drinks.

🔴 From 2024 to 2026, entities funded through property taxes saw an increase in funding due to an increase in assessed valuation. Passage of Senate Bill 3 would roll back assessments to 2024 and freeze them at those levels for qualified properties. This will result in reduced funding to entities reliant upon property taxes.
