The death of Pierre Damas Bel did not need to happen. Pierre should not have felt so unsafe living in Ohio that he would rather take his own life than potentially lose his home. We cannot let the anti-Haitianism of the Right continue to ruin the lives of our community members.

The Haitian Solidarity Language group and the Migrant Protection Working Group of Akron DSA will host a vigil for Pierre Damas Bel at Canton’s Centennial Plaza from 7-8pm, Sunday, September 6.
