LTCO had a fun time at Bash Westlake last night! This event was an opportunity for us to educate people about the Long-Term Care Ombudsman program and inform them of our volunteer opportunities. (Pictured: Harry Williamson/certified Ombudsman Associate, Victoria Brownfield/certified Ombudsman Program Director and Volunteer Coordinator, and Maja Jekic/Certified Ombudsman Specialist)

We also loved networking with other agencies that serve long-term care consumers and the senior population in our region. Please consider joining our team as a volunteer ombudsman and help us with our mission to ensure excellent care and services for all LTC consumers. Visit our website www.ltco.org to apply.

Advocating for long-term care residents as an Ombudsman takes a special kind of person; one who is compassionate and empathetic to concerns and someone who has the willingness to stand up for the rights of others. Maiya McCoy is a certified Ombudsman associate volunteer who started her advocacy journey in 2020 right before COVID hit. She has stayed committed to the Long-Term Care Ombudsman program mission to ensure quality care and quality of life for long-term care consumers. Become a volunteer Ombudsman, like Maiya, and empower residents to expect excellence in their care. Visit www.ltco.org to apply.

This week we celebrate volunteers who are committed to advocate for long term care residents. Harry Williamson is a newly certified volunteer ombudsman, "Having more spare time in my life, I was looking for an organization that instilled the purpose of giving back to individuals and families. A very good friend suggested I look for something that would focus on my passion and love for seniors. I couldn't be more satisfied and happier that I'm involved.”

“I was drawn to becoming an ombudsman because I enjoy advocating for others. Also, my grandmother lived in long-term care for the last few years of her life, and I was able to witness first-hand the challenges that came along with transitioning to and living in long term care.”
