VEGAN & YOGA NIGHT: Beneath One Moon 
Wednesday, June 24 | 5 - 8PM

Enjoy a Cleveland Vegan taco bar ($15) and set foot to enjoy our trails and/or join Emmy for a yoga experience inspired by the Nature Center at Shaker Lakes’ 60th anniversary celebration. Together, we will gather beneath the same moon that guides the rhythms of nature and renewal in a grounding and reflective yoga practice. This class invites you to slow down, and reconnect with the earth. Suitable for all levels. $10 donation suggested.

Native Tree Planting Project
Saturday, June 27, 2026

The Nature Center is continually increasing our community tree canopy. We remove invasive species and plant trees for habitat restoration. This major project will plant 25 trees at one time with your help. Our Natural Resources team will work with each volunteer to train them in the proper steps for planting trees.

Volunteer activities will include the following: planting the native trees, constructing and securing protective cages around the trees using wire fencing, and mulching trees afterwards for moisture retention. Volunteers will gain valuable skills and firsthand experience in proper tree planting, as well as a sense of accomplishment in participating in an important and lasting habitat restoration project at the Nature Center.

A recent microburst swept through parts of Shaker and Cleveland Heights, causing significant damage across the Nature Center. The storm destroyed the All Peoples' Trail trailhead pergola and damaged the beloved entrance sculpture. Fallen trees and debris also impacted trails and natural areas throughout the property.

While we are busy with a summer of camps, programs, and daily visitors, our staff is now working quickly to clean up damage, ensure safety, and restore these important community spaces. Your gift will help cover our insurance deductible, storm-related cleanup costs, and the unexpected expenses of repairing and rebuilding what was lost.

Together, our community can help restore what the storm damaged and keep nature accessible, welcoming, and safe for all.

Environmental and Racial Justice Fair Featuring Really Amazing Food Truck

Join the Nature Center for an inspiring Juneteenth community celebration featuring local racial justice organizations, environmental advocates, art exhibits, and changemakers. Through engaging community conversations, unique exhibits, and opportunities to connect with local groups, we’ll explore how environmental racism impacts Black communities and the collective work being done to advance equity and access to healthy, vibrant neighborhoods.

Visitors can also experience the Nature Includes You exhibit, on loan from Cuyahoga Valley National Park, along with a special quilt exhibit presented by the African American Quilt & Doll Guild.

Free and open to all ages. All are welcome.

Rain Barrel Workshop
June 23 & June 25 | 5:30-7:00 pm

Rain barrels are a great way to conserve water, and using rainwater is a healthier way to irrigate your garden. Join our natural resources team as we walk you through a hands-on workshop to build your own rain barrel. The price includes the rain barrel, diverter kit, and all necessary parts. We provide the tools and instruction. This easy workshop is suitable for all skill levels. Registration required.

🚧 Storm Damage 🚧

The storm Sunday afternoon caused quite a bit of damage around the Nature Center's property. We have a few trees down including one that fell right near the entrance of the All Peoples' Trail. All damaged areas have been secured and blocked off for safety.

Cleanup and reopening of the affected trail entrance may take several days, but we will still be open to the public normal hours Tuesday-Sunday 10-5, Wednesdays 10-8PM.

Summer Solstice Night Hike

Bring in the summer season by joining the Nature Center for a Summer Equinox Moonlit Walk. Stroll through our trails under the moonlight on the first night of spring and learn about bats and other nocturnal animals, summer plants, and more. Joining us will be Cleveland Metroparks Naturalist Madi Bacci, who will share her passion for bats and other nocturnal critters!
