The 'Christkindlmarkt Cleveland', located at The Mall in downtown Cleveland, is an annual month long Weinachfest city wide celebration of Olde World style Christmas Festivities in Greater Cleveland. Conceived in 2013 by American Cultural Ambassadors David and Renate Jakupca, the Christkindl
markt Cleveland is not the first Christkindlmarkt in America but it is the first to promote the theme Universality for Peace and Global Harmony for all the Living Things: the Worlds Children, as its primary purpose. Using the rich cultural traditions and including special events, performances and activities designed to preserve and promote not only the German Traditions but also the diverse global impact of Cleveland's many Ethnic communities. History and Tradition
Inspired by the Christkindl Market in Nuremberg, Germany, which began in 1545, the Christkindlmarkt Cleveland was originally concieved in 2013 by American Cultural Ambassadors David and Renate Jakupca brings cherished German and European traditions with international flair and local charm to Cleveland and will soon grow to become one of the most popular attractions in North East Ohio. Look for the Easter Market in April, The Mayfest in May and many more throughout the year. The Christkindlmarkt Cleveland is also the perfect place for teachers and professors of to bring their students. Here they have the opportunity to practice skills at the market with numerous ethnic speaking members. There are several educational activities for students visiting the market events include: The Worlds Children Peace Center. St Nicholas, interviews with vendors, worldwide Christmas decorations workshop or even singing holiday songs for all to enjoy. At the market, students get to experience authentic German and ethnic traditions without having to travel far from home. From Kindergartners to graduate students the message is loud and clear:
