Today we celebrate National Women in Law Enforcement Day, better known as National Police Woman Day! Honoring the strength, leadership, and dedication of the amazing women who serve and protect. 💙 At Case Western Reserve University Division of Public Safety, we proudly support the 30x30 Initiative, working toward a future where women make up 30% of sworn officers by 2030. Representation matters. To our amazing officers, thank you for all that you do. We could not make the impact that we do on this campus without you.

🇺🇸 Today marks 25 years since the events of September 11, 2001.

The Division of Public Safety honors the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the first responders whose courage continues to guide our work. We remain committed to protecting our community with the same spirit of service, resilience, and unity shown on that day. #911

Piggybacking (or "tailgating") happens when someone slips into a building right behind you without swiping their own badge or key. It might seem polite to hold the door but it's one of the easiest ways for someone unauthorized to get inside.

✅ Let doors close behind you
✅ Use your badge to access your building
✅ Ask someone to use their own badge to get into the building - It's not rude!

Stay safe, look out for each other 💙

The Cleveland National Air Show returns to Burke Lakefront Airport this Labor Day weekend, September 5–7 and downtown will be busy!

Here’s what to know before you head out:

Traffic & Parking: Expect heavy congestion and limited parking near the lakefront. Plan extra travel time, carpool where possible, or use rideshare/bike options.

Arrive Early: Gates and security lines fill up fast. Give yourself plenty of time to get in and get settled.

Noise Advisory: Performances include high-speed jets and aerobatic flyovers so expect loud, sustained noise throughout the day. Hearing protection is recommended, especially for young children.

📍 Know Before You Go: Check the Air Show’s official site for road closures, entry points, and prohibited items before leaving home.

We want everyone to enjoy the show safely so plan ahead, stay aware, and look up!

🚲 Spartans, protect your ride! Register your bike with CWRU Public Safety and get a FREE U-Lock plus a registration sticker that makes your bike easier to recover if it’s ever lost or stolen.

🔒 Quick safety reminders:
✅ Use a steel U-Lock — cable locks can be cut in seconds
✅ Secure your frame AND your wheels
✅ Always lock to a bike rack, not a pole or railing
✅ Snap a photo of your bike and save the serial number

Ready to register? Swing by Public Safety HQ or the Wade/Fribley area offices to grab your sticker and lock.

Don’t skip this step — a locked, registered bike is a bike that comes home. 🔗 to register: https://case.edu/publicsafety/services/bike-registration-lock

September is National Preparedness Month, this year's theme is Americans Stand Ready, reminding us that readiness starts at home! Making a plan for your household, understanding the risks where you live, and knowing your evacuation routes ensures you’re ready long before an emergency happens. When communities stand ready, we’re all safer and stronger.
