You're invited to share your views on Short-Term Rentals (STRs) in Cleveland Heights at a Public Input Session hosted by Councilwoman Sarah Stone.

📅 Tomorrow, September 15, 6 pm, in Council Chambers.

STRs are full or partial residential properties rented out to guests for a temporary stay of 30 consecutive days or less. Airbnbs are the most common example.

At the event, residents and stakeholders will have the opportunity to share feedback on STRs at the same time Council considers legislation requiring hosts to register their properties.

The Planning Department is seeking community feedback on the Zoning Code. In 2026, the City began a year-long project to modernize the Code. There are two upcoming engagement opportunities:
1. In-person: Thursday, September 17 from 5:00-7:00PM at the Coventry Library

The feedback will inform the future Zoning Code update, which aims to support growth and redevelopment while maintaining the character and historic development pattern of Cleveland Heights.

Today the Cleveland Heights Public Safety Department, including CHFD Chief James Harry and CHPD Chief Chris Britton, Mayor Petras, City Council members, officers, and residents alike, observed the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks in a ceremony held today at the City’s Fire Station #1. CH Fire Investigator Thomas Beers served as master of ceremonies.

The memorial opened with a Ringing of the Last Alarm and a moment of silence led by Retired Cleveland Heights Firefighter Anthony Caruso. During the invocation, CH Public Safety Chaplain Pastor Jimmy Hicks Jr. urged the assembled to remember those who perished that day by gathering as a community and praying for peace.

Mayor Petras, in his remarks, noted how 9/11 changed the nation forever and recounted a story of a Cleveland Heights resident and friend whose relatives were among the 2,977 who perished, saying “that loss has never faded” for their family.

The emotional high point of the ceremony occurred as CH Public Safety officials recited the names of all 415 public safety personnel—including 343 firefighters, 72 law enforcement officers, and 8 paramedics/EMTs—who died in the line of duty that day. We honor their memory today and we will never forget.
