Polish Legion of American Veterans, USA - Dept of Ohio PLAV dedicated to helping hospitalized veterans and their families. WHAT IS THE PLAV? The PLAV is a U.S. Congressionally Chartered American Veterans Organization.

As such, the PLAV is open to all honorably discharged American veterans and certain allied veterans such as specified in the PLAV National Constitution. The PLAV is a nationwide organization which operates in 15 states and has members in many more. The PLAV is organized with a National Department, subordinate State Departments and Posts within those departments. The PLAV is counted among the top v

eterans' organizations when it comes to volunteering and making monetary donations to VA Hospitals and veterans homes. The PLAV also purchases items for personal use and enjoyment of the veteran patients at those facilities. The PLAV maintains a Legislative Officer in the nation's Capital to keep all members informed of Bills and Programs that relate to Veterans. Additionally, PLAV members serve on Boards, Advisery Bodies and Panels of the Department of Veterans Affairs. PLAV Service Officers are available to help veterans in filing claims with the VA. At the Post level, the PLAV is well represented at hometown parades and other patriotic functions. Many Posts sponsor Boy Scout troops, Little League, Soccer teams and are involved in Community Programs. The PLAV maintains the Comradeship that American military men and women held so dear during their time of service to our Country. AUXILIARIES

The PLAV Ladies Auxiliary is organized on National, State and Local levels. They bring relief, solace and economic aid to thousands of Veterans and their dependents. They visit VA facilities and contribute time, effort and funds for veterans programs and other Civic and Community functions. The Sons of the PLAV is comprised of individuals not eligible for regular membership and assist local Posts in operation along with fundraising, VA hospital visits and many Community projects. They are organized at present on local Post levels.

Post 58 Treasurer, Micheal Polichuk announced on Saturday, November 16, 2024 that he is retiring from all PLAV activities effective at the end of his term as PLAV State Commander. This is bittersweet news as Mr. Polichuk is a Legend within the PLAV and Veterans communities, both local, state and national levels. Here is a list of positions that Mr. Polichuk served.
1. Post 58 member since 1993.
2. Post 58 Treasurer since 1999.
3. State PLAV Commander: First Term - 2002 to 2005; Second Term - 2013 to 2015; Third Term - 2023 to 2025.
4. National PLAV 2nd Vice-Commander - 2006 to 2008.
5. National Acting PLAV News Editor - 2008 to 2009.
6. National PLAV 1st Vice-Commander - 2010 to 2012.

Micheal Polichuk leaves an amazing Legacy with the PLAV. He will be missed.

Yesterday, Roosevelt Post 58 Commander Terry Zacharyj and Post 58 Treasurer Michael Polichuk donated $10,000 to the Ukrainian Museum & Archives to help support the Museum Archives department and in acquiring more items. In the middle is Museum Director Andrew Fedynsky receiving the donation. Director Fedynsky was incredibly surprised and grateful for donation. The Ukrainian Museum is located in Tremont on Kenilworth Avenue.

In July of this year, Post 58 donated $10,000 to St. John Cantius Church for their steeple renovation project.
