"Brushing scams" are a new type of scam you may not have heard yet! Scammers send you a package that you don't remember ordering, often from a well-known company, such as Amazon. Why would someone send you something you didn't order? Scammers do this so they have “validation” of delivery. Then they use your name to place fake reviews online about their business to “brush up” their sales. This may also include a phishing scam when they ask you to scan a QR code to return unordered merchandise - then, they steal your personal info, such as credit card numbers. For more information about this type of scam, go to: https://consumer.ftc.gov/consumer-alerts/2026/08/unexpected-package-you-got-could-be-brushing-scam?utm_source=govdelivery .

Did you get a package you didn’t order? It could be a brushing scam where a scammer uses your name to leave a fake review for that package you didn’t order. It could also be a sign that someone has (or is looking to steal) your personal information.
