National Police Week will be observed from May 10th through May 16th.
It is a time that we come together to remember our fallen brothers and sisters and those who still continue to serve.

Originally established by presidential proclamation President John F. Kennedy in 1962, National Police Week includes Peace Officers Memorial Day on May 15th and a week of observances recognizing officers who given their lives in the line of duty, as well as those who continue to serve and protect our communities with dedication and courage.

💙 Light Ohio Blue Campaign 2026 💙
The annual Light Ohio Blue campaign is fast approaching—bringing communities across Ohio together to honor our fallen officers and show support for those who continue to serve.
📅 May 6 – May 16, 2026
In recognition of National Police Week and Peace Officers Memorial Day, we invite everyone to participate by simply changing your porch or exterior lights to blue. This small gesture sends a powerful message of gratitude and unity.
🕯️ Never Forget
More than 24,400 U.S. law enforcement officers have died in the line of duty. In 2025 alone, 111 officers made the ultimate sacrifice.
Ohio ranks 5th in the nation for line-of-duty deaths. Last year, we lost:
• Special Deputy Larry Henderson, Jr. – Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office
• Deputy Sheriff Daniel Weston Sherrer – Morrow County Sheriff’s Office
• Police Officer Phillip C. Wagner – Lorain Police Department
• Trooper Nicholas P. Cayton – Ohio State Highway Patrol
We honor their sacrifice and stand with the families and agencies they left behind.
🤝 Honor & Support
This campaign is built on two pillars:
• Honor – remembering those we’ve lost
• Support – standing behind those who continue to serve
Anyone can participate—individuals, families, businesses, and organizations. Together, we strengthen the bond between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
💡 How to Get Involved
• Change your exterior lights to blue (May 6–16)
• Display a blue light or ribbon
• Share this message with your community
• Post your photos using
🚓 2026 Memorial Caravan – May 6 (Central Ohio)
A statewide memorial caravan and ceremony will take place honoring Ohio’s fallen officers. Law enforcement agencies from across the state will participate in this powerful tribute.
