Emergency Burn Ban is in effect immediately until the annual state burn ban starts March 16th

Multiple Fire Departments are battling brush fires due to outside burning. The Columbia County Board of Supervisors has issued a State of Emergency and banned all outside burning due to the dry conditions until March 16, 2025 when the NY State wide burn ban takes effect. In addition to the burned acreage, the fires have extended to structures and damaged them as well. Law Enforcement is issuing tickets for illegal burns. Please help us and refrain from burning.

Testing the new dry hydrant at Lasting Joy Brewery earlier today.

Clermont has gotten two new dry hydrants recently. One installed by the company with help from Decker Construction on County Route 6 in early November, and also this one, tested today, installed by Lasting Joy Brewery on their property.

Columbia County is currently under a state of emergency due to extremely dry conditions that could result is fires easily starting and spreading. This also includes an emergency burn barn, through at least November 30 2024. Please do not burn. It could result in major property damage and fines.

The smoke currently infiltrating the area is from wildnfires burning in counties to the west of us. Please keep first responders in your throughts and prayers as we navigate these dangerous conditions assisting our residents as well as out of the area on special deployments to assist other departments.
