On Wednesday, construction will begin on a portion of CR 317 to reconstruct the roadway from Hwy 67 to Buel Baptist Church. This project is being funded by the EDC Type A Board, which is using proceeds from the sale of the property to Metalplate as part of its efforts to support economic development in Keene. The roadway improvements are needed to accommodate larger trucks traveling to and from Metalplate’s facility, as the existing roadway is not designed to properly support the larger vehicles expected to use it. Under state law, sales tax revenue collected by the EDC Type A Board may only be used for economic development purposes, making this roadway improvement an investment in infrastructure that supports business growth in Keene.

Never Forget September 11, 2001.

This morning, a small crowd gathered outside City Hall for our annual 9/11 Ceremony. Led by Fire Captain Blaine Stroud, along with Keene Fire Rescue and the Keene Police Department, we honored those who lost their lives that day, as well as the first responders and individuals who risked their lives in service of others. In attendance were City employees, several City Council members, and members of the community. Today, on the 25th anniversary of the events on September 11, 2001, our hearts are with the victims, their families, and all those who were affected.
