 Johnson County Soil and Water Conservation District 541 recently hosted their 55th annual awards banquet. Top three places were presented Personal Plaques and Money for their winning essays, posters, coloring pages. The district also named their 2026 Conservation Farmer and Rancher to Dennis Lane and family. The 2026 Conservation Teacher was presented to Mrs. Tatyana Patterson from Keene Elementary. Congratulations to all our winners.

This morning, we we honored to have the Johnson County Commissioners Court and County Judge Chris Boedecker designate April 26-May 3rd, 2026 Soil and Water Stewardship Week. We appreciate Johnson County’s commitment to clean soil and water.

Johnson County Judge, Commissioners and other dignitaries at the TEXAS STATE CAPITAL- We had a great team to testify on HB1674 this week. Finally got to speak starting around 1 AM. Finished our hearing at 3:30 AM! The committee had lots of questions for all of us. Had people from Hood county, Ellis county, Oklahoma and Wisconsin show up to testify about the dangers of PFAS chemicals in biosolids.

The 54th Annual Johnson County Soil & Water Conservation District’s Awards Banquet was so much fun. We are greatful to the Johnson County 4-H for catering the delicious meal. Special presentations from the FFA Conservatiion Stewardship Speeches and the Hill and Johnson 4H Water Ambassadors were given. The Board of Directors enjoyed meeting and congratulating the winners and their families.
