The city of Clearwater’s Community Redevelopment Agency aims to promote Downtown Clearwater’s ongoing neighborhood revitalization through programs and initiatives that strengthen and stimulate our local economy and environment. Downtown Clearwater, historically the Pinellas County seat and center of commercial and social activity on Florida’s West Coast, now known as the Cleveland Street District

in downtown Clearwater has a $10+ million streetscape. Just east of the Clearwater Harbor bluff, it is the perfect setting for the unique mix of shopping and dining enterprises that are restoring and preserving the district's distinctive character. A public art program and world class live entertainment at the Capitol Theatre offer pleasures for the eyes and ears and lushly landscaped medians and sidewalks provide cool places in an urban setting. The Clearwater Harbor Marina creates a vital link between the District’s new enterprises and the city’s spectacular waterfront.

The city of Clearwater has officially proclaimed Sept. 14 to 18 as Florida Redevelopment Week.

Clearwater's Community Redevelopment Agency staff accepted the proclamation during the Aug. 31 City Council meeting, joining CRAs across Florida in celebrating the impact of community redevelopment.

During this important week, the Clearwater CRA will highlight local projects, businesses, partnerships and investments in Downtown Clearwater and North Greenwood. Stay tuned and see how redevelopment works in Clearwater!

The Clearwater Arts Alliance is inviting artists to help bring public art to life through the Clearwater Sculpture Series.

The selected artist will receive a $5,000 honorarium, with installation planned for early October 2026. The sculpture will remain on display for approximately 18 months.

Applications are due Sept. 25.

CRA Coordinator Brian Ulbricht recently toured the new Council Chamber and Executive Board Room as construction continues to move forward.

With the opening anticipated in October 2026, the new facility will provide updated spaces for public meetings, civic engagement and community decision-making. Exciting progress is underway as Clearwater prepares to welcome the community into its new City Hall.

The Cleveland Street District Placemaking & Design Workshop is happening today.

City staff and stakeholders reviewed examples of seating, shade structures and other site furnishings during an interactive workshop activity with AECOM. Participants shared their preferences and discussed ideas for the 400 and 500 blocks of Cleveland Street.

The public is invited to attend today’s community sessions and join the conversation!
