Today, we celebrate the hardworking individuals, caregivers, advocates, volunteers, and community partners who help create brighter futures for children in foster care.

Your dedication, compassion, and commitment make a lasting difference every day.

In observance of Labor Day, our office is closed today.

International Day of Charity 💙

Charity isn’t only about giving money. It’s about choosing to make a difference.

It’s the volunteer who gives their time.
The business that shares its resources.
The donor who makes a gift.
The community partner who opens a door.
The advocate who sees a need and speaks up.

At Hero To A Child, every one of these acts helps build a Community of Care around children and young adults in foster care.

Today, on International Day of Charity, we celebrate everyone who chooses to give in whatever way they can. Together, those acts of generosity add up to something pretty incredible.

“Gavin” recently began an associate degree program in Cybersecurity and was preparing to move into on-campus housing. For the first time in his life, he would have a room of his very own.

But when classes began, his campus housing wasn’t ready.

Gavin was still living too far away to reasonably get himself to school each day, and after everything he had already overcome to get to college, transportation suddenly became the one thing standing between him and the start of his first semester.

That’s where Hero to a Child was able to step in.

Thanks to our donors, we provided rides to and from campus until his apartment was ready, making sure Gavin could attend his classes from the very beginning.

Today, he’s living on campus, studying Cybersecurity, and building the independent future he has worked so hard to reach.

There are so many obstacles young people transitioning from foster care have to overcome. Sometimes our job is simply to make sure one temporary obstacle doesn’t get in the way of everything they’ve worked so hard to achieve. 💙

This week, your support met kids right where they needed it. 💙

From neuropsychological evaluations for 9-year-old Laurie that insurance wouldn’t cover, to ROTC uniforms helping Christopher hold onto some structure and belonging after losing his grandfather and changing placements, to a baby gate keeping little Zelda safe as she settles into her new home with her aunt.

Big needs. Little needs. Every one of them matters to the child who has it.

At 18, “Dara” is in Extended Foster Care and working hard to build a future for herself. She recently transferred placements so she could attend school and pursue a career in welding.

But starting a welding program comes with a long list of required supplies, and the cost can add up quickly. Dara was ready to put in the work. She just needed the tools to do it.

Thanks to our donors, Hero to a Child was able to provide the critical supplies she needed to walk into class prepared and focus on what matters: learning her trade, completing her education, and building the independent future she’s working so hard toward.

Sometimes saying YES means giving a young person the tools to build their own future, and in Dara's case, quite literally. 💙
