The Clerk of the Circuit and County Courts is a Constitutional Officer who derives authority and responsibility from constitutional and statutory provisions. The Clerk is elected to serve a four-year term by the voters of Pinellas County. The Clerk of the Circuit Court manages all courthouse records, a local budget of approximately $43 million and about 550 employees. Over the years the Clerk has assumed more than 1,000 individual statutory duties as delegated by the Florida Legislature. These duties affect the rights and property of all Pinellas County citizens. The current Pinellas County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller, Ken Burke, was sworn in January 4, 2005.

đź“Ł One Week Remaining to File Your 2026 VAB Petition
Property owners who wish to challenge their assessed value, classification, or exemption status for the 2026 tax cycle have one week left to submit a petition to the Pinellas County Value Adjustment Board (VAB).

Petitions must be received by the VAB Clerk no later than 5:00 PM on Friday, September 11, 2026.

The VAB process ensures an impartial review: petitions are evaluated by independent special magistrates who consider evidence presented by both the petitioner and the Property

Get ready to say “I boo.”

The Pinellas Clerk’s office is hosting its fifth annual Halloween Scare‑amonies on weekdays from October 1 to 30 at the downtown Clearwater Courthouse. Couples may hold a Halloween‑themed wedding or vow renewal in the ceremony room, with walk-ins welcome and costumes encouraged. Couples may bring up to ten guests.

Identification must be completed before the ceremony, so heavy makeup should be applied afterward. Removable face masks are permitted.

A valid marriage license is required prior to any ceremony. Licenses are valid for sixty days from the date of issuance. For information on obtaining a license or completing the application before visiting in person, please visit our website at mypinellasclerk.gov/themedweddings.

Austin serves Pinellas citizens as Records Specialist 2 in Recording Services, and this is the second time he has been selected by a committee of his peers as Employee of the Month.
