Thank you to those who offered to help with the hawk. Unfortunately, sometimes things have a way of resolving themselves. Sadly, this bird passed. Her injuries were extensive.

This baby barred back with sibling and parents this morning after falling out of the nest yesterday and luckily being found by the property owner as he was mowing the lawn. The put back was once again the wonderful owl team Robin Wall, Mary Hoffer and EcoJoe. The owls were pretty mad, but in the end the mother was back in the cavity with both her babies.

Huge appreciation to Robin Wall and EcoJoe for their incredibly swift and skilled owl rescue efforts. The two magnificent great horned owls at Taylor Park had taken a tumble. Dr. Kushnir, Kim and Bryan examined them and the owl team successfully got them back up in the tree with a basket for support.

Lulu, our ambassador great horned owl, proved to be a remarkable challenge. She shares her loft with another female great horned owl named Greta. This year she laid an unfertilized egg in her enclosure and was incubating it, showcasing her incredible maternal instincts. This made the situation in that loft potentially hazardous, but Mikell Kilgore rose to the occasion, as always. He successfully and safely captured Lulu, demonstrating exceptional skill and care. Lani Walker then went in and removed the egg, ensuring the well-being of all. The owls are still protective, so we provided extra privacy with tarps, giving them space to thrive.

Bryan Moya, a veterinary student assisted as part of his capstone course at . Alejandra Corio also assisted having completed the course last term! What a great team to help us out with our ambassadors. And Mikell Kilgore was also a tremendous help with our owls, especially Lulu the great horned owl. I will post those photos separately. Here are some pictures from the exams.

We examined the screech owls, the kestrels, the kites, the barn owl, and one of the great horned owls and an assortment of other species. Residents get physicals and vaccinations on-site annually.
