For Aaron, a job is about much more than earning a paycheck.

It's about having the freedom to contribute. It's about building skills. It's about gaining confidence and knowing that the work he does matters. 🙌

Aaron joined One Vision Thrift Solutions in Fort Dodge in 2016 as a Recycling Assistant. ♻️

Since then, he's taken on new challenges. He's learned to drive a forklift, operate a baler and sort donations.

Each new skill has given him another reason to be proud of what he's capable of.
Today, Aaron knows his job. He knows his abilities. And he knows he belongs. 💙

In his own words: "I know my job, and I feel like I belong here."

Think back to the first time you moved out on your own.

Maybe it was a college dorm. Your first apartment. The home where you started building your future.

It was exciting. It was scary. And chances are, someone who loved you worried a little, too.

For Jordan, Gabe and Skylar, that milestone is happening now. 🙌

This year, they're moving into a One Vision Smart Living home, marking the first time they've lived anywhere other than with their families.

Recently, they spent the day exploring North Iowa. They visited local landmarks and practiced finding their way home.

On the drive back, something happened that might seem small to some of us.

They gave staff directions themselves.

Independence isn't always found in life's biggest moments. Sometimes, it's knowing which turn to take on the way home. And sometimes, it's taking the wrong turn and knowing you can figure it out.

A little fresh air, some classic cars, and a whole lot of fun! 🚗

A few weeks ago, two individuals supported by One Vision headed to the CLASS Car Club Cruise in Clear Lake and had a blast checking out the cars and taking in all the excitement.

It’s moments like these that make a community feel like home. 💚 From local events to everyday adventures, everyone should have the opportunity to get out, explore, and enjoy the things they love.

In 1966, community members who believed people with disabilities deserved more came together to establish Handicap Village.

Five years later, on September 15, 1971, services began for people with disabilities.

That vision has continued to grow and evolve into the organization we know today as One Vision, serving people with disabilities across North and Central Iowa and standing alongside them as they pursue their best life. 🤝💚

This year, we're celebrating 55 years of supporting people with disabilities with
One Vision's OV Days of Giving 2026, September 1–15. Our goal is to raise $55,000 to help create more opportunities for people with disabilities to live, work, connect and thrive in the communities they call home.

At One Vision, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to pursue the things that bring them joy, make memories, and live their best life. For Mike, one of those dreams had been years in the making: seeing Jelly Roll live in concert! ✨

Last month, One Vision staff members Adrienne and Grant had the honor of helping make that dream a reality when they took Mike to see Jelly Roll and Post Malone at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames.

From the music to the excitement of being there in person, Mike had the time of his life! 🎶🤘 It was a privilege to share the experience with him and watch a longtime dream become a reality right before their eyes.

We're so glad they could help make a dream come true and create a memory Mike will never forget! 💚
