Just added this week! New Library of Things items!!

Upstairs you'll now find an Activity Kit that features "Super Fun Family Card Games" in English & Braille, along with a deck of playing cards that includes Braille.

Downstairs shelves now boast two sets of Balancing Stepping Stones, a 48-piece Dinosaur Floor Puzzle, and an Activity Kit to help kids learn how to tie their shoes.

Note: We also have a TEACHER kit for shoe tying that contains a set of 22 shoe lacing cards for educators in the area that can be used in the classroom. Reach out to Brianna for more information on that kit specifically!

A few weeks ago, these books were dropped into the book drop. They were due in 2018!! 😲

We are so glad they made their way home and want to be sure to remind everyone that we've gone FINE FREE, so this patron's account is now clear and they owe no money. After 8 years, all charges on their account were dropped just by them placing the books in the book drop!

While we don't recommend keeping books for 8 years (one, because you should visit us more often and two, because other people want to read them), we do hope you'll bring back any books you find, despite how long it's been since you last visited! Then, be sure to come inside and find something new to read.

Have you checked out the Library of Things lately?
It’s one way to “make every day Earth Day!” 🌎

Why buy when you can borrow? That's the motto of the Clear Lake Public Library's collection, Library of Things.Whether you are testing an item before you buy or just need something for a one-off project, the Library of Things (LoT) provides patrons of all ages a chance to borrow items for use at home.

Organized into broad categories, the items available in the LoT generally check out for two weeks but some (like puzzles) have a 30 day checkout. Look for STEM and Story Time kits, games, puzzles, and puppets in the children's department. Upstairs, you'll find Memory Kits (designed for use with memory care, Alzheimer's or Dementia patients), hobby kits, tools, technology, nature backpacks, yard games, board games, and puzzles available.

This month's introvert book club pick is "The Nature Fix" by Florence Williams. Have you ever noticed how a breath of fresh air feels like, well, a breath of fresh air? "The Nature Fix" will help connect the dots between our well-being and the elegantly simple effects of getting outside for a breath of fresh air.

As a reminder of how the introvert book club works: there is no dedicated meeting time, so you can just pick up a copy of the book at any point during the month and return it before the month is up. You can discuss it at the front desk when you return it, or you can convince your friends and family to check out a copy of the book with you and have your own little book club discussion!

ATLAS (At the Library After School) is off to a fun/filled start this fall with Game Day.
