**Message from the Mayor**

A quarter-century has passed since the morning that changed our nation forever. Today, on the 25th Anniversary of September 11, 2001, we pause as a community for a moment of reflection to honor the innocent lives lost and the extraordinary courage of the heroes who sacrificed so much.

Please join me in observing a moment of silence at the following times throughout the morning:

-8:46 a.m. EDT – American Airlines Flight 11 strikes the North Tower
-9:03 a.m. EDT – United Airlines Flight 175 strikes the South Tower
-9:37 a.m. EDT – American Airlines Flight 77 strikes the Pentagon
-9:59 a.m. EDT – The South Tower of the World Trade Center collapses
-10:03 a.m. EDT – United Airlines Flight 93 crashes in Shanksville, PA
-10:28 a.m. EDT – The North Tower of the World Trade Center collapses

We Will Never Forget.

Shell Bottom Park Boat Ramp Ribbon Cutting & Project Acknowledgments

We are thrilled to celebrate the official opening of the new Shell Bottom Park Boat Ramp! A project of this scale takes incredible collaboration, and the City of Clear Lake Shores extends its sincere gratitude to the key partners who made it possible:

-City Leadership (Past & Present): Thank you to our previous Mayor, City Council, and administration for initiating the project and applying for the original design grant, as well as our current Mayor, City Council, and administration for finalizing the design grant and successfully securing the construction grant approval.

-Clear Lake Shores Economic Development Corporation: Thank you to the EDC for initially funding the project and laying the groundwork to get this development underway.

Dr. Greg Bonnen & State Leadership: Thank you to State Representative Dr. Greg Bonnen and his colleagues for appropriating the state funding to Texas Parks and Wildlife. Thanks to their efforts, state grant funding covered 100% of the construction costs, requiring zero matching funds from the City.

-Shellmark Engineering: Thank you for providing expert design work and collaborating closely with Texas Parks and Wildlife to secure the grant.

-Texas Gulf Coast Construction: Thank you to our primary contractor for completing the construction and delivering a quality facility for our community.

-Thank you to everyone who joined us for the ribbon-cutting ceremony!

WEATHER UPDATE: Tropical System Monitoring & Local Impact Outlook

The City of Clear Lake Shores is closely monitoring the latest weather updates from the Texas Department of Emergency Management (TDEM) and the National Hurricane Center (NHC).

While the immediate coastline is not expected to take a direct hit, residents should prepare for potential localized impacts over the coming days.

Key Forecast Highlights

-Track & Landfall: The storm is expected to intensify briefly before making landfall near the Texas/Louisiana border as a strong tropical storm or minimal Category 1 hurricane. According to the NHC, the projected path tracks predominantly north through the Piney Woods of East Texas.

-Primary Threat (Heavy Rainfall): Though the system will weaken rapidly following landfall, Gulf moisture pulled in by trailing rain bands may cause heavy rain to persist across our area through tomorrow.

-Wind & Power Outage Preparedness: If the storm’s trajectory shifts slightly westward, local wind impacts could increase. Residents are encouraged to prepare for possible power outages and secure loose outdoor items.

What You Should Do

-Clear drainage pathways and yard debris to help minimize standing water.

-Secure outdoor furniture, decor, and loose items around your property.

-Review your household emergency kits and ensure devices are fully charged.

-Sign up for emergency notifications through CLS Connect to receive real-time local alerts. (https://www.clearlakeshores-tx.gov/CLS-Connect)

City officials will continue to track the storm's progression and share updates as necessary. Stay safe and weather-aware!
