We are excited to tell the story of the B.M. Robertson Mule Co. Building!

Last night, the Town premiered From Mules to Memories, a new documentary exploring the history of this iconic downtown landmark and the people and stories connected to it. Tonight at 6 p.m., you can watch the documentary from home during its premiere on the Town of Clayton YouTube channel.

In this episode of the Meet Our Team campaign, we’re highlighting Josh Grubb, our Data Manager in IT, in honor of IT Professionals Day!

Josh works behind the scenes turning the data we have into information our teams can actually use, from Power BI dashboards and SQL reports to pulling data from forms and organizing it for departments across the Town. We’re grateful for the expertise Josh brings to our team and the important work he does to help keep Clayton running!

The Town of Clayton gathered this morning at Municipal Park for our 25th Anniversary 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony, coming together as a community to honor those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 and recognize the courage and selfless service shown that day.

One of the most meaningful parts of this year’s ceremony was the Share Your Story features, a community campaign inviting residents to share their personal experiences and memories of 9/11. Four community members shared their firsthand accounts with us in person, and we were honored to share three additional stories on behalf of those who could not attend. Each story offered a deeply personal perspective on a day that changed our nation forever.

The ceremony also featured a display of 423 miniature flags throughout the park — 343 for firefighters, 72 for law enforcement officers and 8 for EMS personnel who lost their lives while serving others on 9/11.

Thank you to Clayton Area Runners for opening the ceremony, the Clayton High School Band for performing the National Anthem, and the Clayton Police Department, Clayton Fire Department, Johnston County Emergency Services, Honor Guard and community members who helped make today’s remembrance possible.

A quarter-century later, we continue to remember, to honor and to share the stories that keep the memory of September 11 alive.

This week, we’re continuing our Why I Serve series, highlighting a few of the people who volunteer their time and talents to serve on the Town of Clayton’s advisory boards.

For Davin, serving on the Downtown Development Advisory Board is all about connecting with the people who make Downtown Clayton special: our local small businesses.

Through the DDA, members help support downtown businesses through promotion, events, education and more. For Davin, one of the best parts is getting to meet, interact with and learn from the business owners who help make our downtown a vibrant place to gather and connect.

The Clayton Town Council will hold its monthly work session (3pm) and its regular meeting (6pm) on Tuesday, September 8 (due to the Labor Day Holiday on Monday). Both meetings are open to the public, and citizens are invited to attend or watch the live stream. Clayton Town Hall is located at 111 East Second Street. Both meeting agendas are now available.
