Today we recognize Juneteenth - a day of reflection, resilience, and celebration of freedom.

This past Saturday, our community came together at The Clayton Center for a meaningful Juneteenth celebration filled with learning, culture, and connection. From exploring family histories and honoring ancestors, to supporting local vendors and experiencing powerful performances that told the story of Black history through art, it was a day to remember.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this event so special. We invite you to take a look back at some of the highlights and continue celebrating the rich history and contributions that shape our community today.

Reminder: All Town of Clayton facilities are closed today in observance of Juneteenth.

Please join us in celebrating Ann Game, our Revenue and Utility Customer Service Director, on receiving the Order of the Long Leaf Pine - North Carolina’s highest civilian honor - from Governor Josh Stein at Monday's Town Council Meeting.

This recognition reflects decades of dedicated service, leadership, and care for the Clayton community. As Ann prepares for retirement in July, we are grateful for the lasting impact she’s made on our team and the people we serve every day.

Congratulations, Ann, and thank you for your commitment to Clayton 💛

Interested in planning a 5K, festival, concert, large gathering, or community celebration in Clayton? Then this episode is for you!

Before the fun begins, some events may require a Special Event Application to help coordinate Town services, use of public spaces like Town Square or Horne Square, or manage impacts like road closures, parking, or public safety.

Not every gathering needs one, though. Casual hangouts and small get-togethers are always welcome in our public spaces. But if your event needs exclusive use of a space or Town resources, it’s time to apply.

The Clayton Town Council adopted the FY27 Budget during its regular meeting on Monday, June 15, 2026. The adopted budget provides funding for priorities established by Town Council with input from the community during the public engagement process that began in February.

The adopted budget, which goes in effect on July 1, 2026, does not include a property tax increase. At the same time, it continues to invest in our community's priorities, including public safety, streets, capital improvement projects, and upgrades to electric, water, and sewer infrastructure.

The budget also includes utility rate adjustments that are necessary to ensure we can cover rising costs for wholesale services, meet debt obligations for critical infrastructure projects, and continue delivering the reliable services our community depends on.

We’re grateful to the Hocutt-Ellington Memorial Library and Renate Yarborough Sanders for presenting Researching Ancestors of Color in North Carolina, to all of the vendors who participated in the Vendor Fair, to Book Black Women, Inc. and No Longer Bound Ent. for their powerful stage production, 400 Years: The Evolution of Black America, and to The Clayton Center for helping bring it all to life.

The 2026 Sculpture Trail artist interview series starts now!

We’re excited to introduce the first feature in this year’s lineup: Billy and the Strings by Jason Morris of Lillington, NC, located at Town Hall, in front of The Clayton Center auditorium.

Inspired by bluegrass music, this piece invites you to slow down, look a little closer, and enjoy the details. From the playful additions of a bird, squirrel, and even an iguana, every element adds to the story, reminding us that, much like life, it’s all about how the pieces come together.

Jason’s goal is simple: create art that makes people smile. And this one does just that 😊

Follow along as we highlight each artist and sculpture in this year’s trail, and make plans to explore them all around town!
