Bailey4Rep Campaign site for Steven G. Bailey, JD, CFP(r), Republican Candidate for United States House of Representatives, 1st District, State of Missouri

For forty-eight years the Clay Family has maintained control of a seat in Congress. That is twenty-four consecutive two-year terms: 16 for the father, William L. Clay, Senior; 8 for the son: Lacy Clay. It is time for a real change that benefits All God's Children as Dr. King dreamed it more than fifty years ago.

Does Progressivism Deliver Progress?

Let us take a look at some of the Progressive Countries around the World.

Venezuela: A socialist paradise! There is no food on the grocery store shelves. There are few opportunities for anyone other than the people at the top, who are fabulously wealthy. Compare that to our setting: there are few grocery stores in the neighborhoods where the Democrats claim they are most deeply concerned and involved. Their system of socialism has left families trapped in cycles of poverty approaching the fifth generation. The schools available to these citizens are plagued by unmotivated students.

Cuba: Another socialist paradise! Doctors are controlled by the state, often shipped to other nations where their labor is charged to the other nation, and the Castros pocket the profits while the doctor's income is limited by the edict of, guess who, the Castros and their clan. The Democrats propose a one-size fits all national health plan as a cure to the miasma they created: if you peel off the bark, it is Medicaid for all! Would you travel to Cuba for a transplant? No, you probably want it done here in the States where doctors have the freedom to earn a decent living after their years of sacrifice to get the cherished education. The Democrats want to unionize all health care practitioners. Take a wild guess as to who funds the Democrats. That is correct, the huge national unions like the AFSCME (American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees), and SEIU (Service Employees International Union), which are just chomping at the bit to get a new wave of captive employees so the unions can negotiate freely on their behalf with the people the unions put in power. Conflict of interest, anyone. Even FDR opposed public unions on this very basis.

Russia: The great Communist Dream! Gulags for opponents; compare this with the assault on free speech evidenced by the IRS scandal -- silence our opponents so that only union-supported candidates have the money to run. No gulags for the elected leaders, they are above the law until they cross the most mighty. No freedom in the economy, the state controls all. Why is it that the Democrats love Lord Keynes (the British aristocrat) and his government is the savior of us all? Because they ultimately believe that they are better than we commoners, and that a return to royalty and feudalism (the old word for socialism) is best for all [especially the oligarchs -- witness the email streams about these oligarchs controlling information from illegal servers at the very top of the controlling elite[.

China: The perfect command and control economy! Why is it that China cannot innovate, only copy from free economies? Because they feed their masses an educational pablum that is premised on a multitude of lies promulgated by Maoists. Common Core efforts to control the masses and what they think and know are at the very core of "right-think" socialism. Did you know that "1984" by George Orwell warns of the left's drive to control thought? Political correctness brooks little opposition.

Our Constitution is under attack. There is a drive to make atheism the national religion in violation of the establishment clause of the First Amendment; this is coupled with a desire to end the free exercise clause that sits right next to it. You better not say God in any public place for fear of a righteous backlash and indignation. I believe in a Higher Power that works with and through good people. Progressives believe they are the embodiment of a higher power, and the rest of us should just get out of their way as they build the Nirvana of their childhood dreams. We adults prefer to be left alone to build our own freedom. Join me in turning back the progressive tide that keeps our children from being free to make their own way in the world.

A growing government or a growing economy?

The choice is clear this election. One party wants to grow its power over your lives, the other wants to help you and your family thrive by getting the government off our backs. The leader of the Democratic Party has a wonderful pay to play plan in place, filled with bureaucratic sycophants eager to make sure that the Clinton Foundation received the payment before the favor is given.

The candidate for the Republican party was chosen by a vote of the people and only the people (the Democrats cannot trust their own voters and use party oligarchs to assure that the machine candidate wins). He is not a perfect man, and he is flawed (I think that applies to all of us to a greater or lesser degree), but if you look at his businesses about 40% are run by women and those women make a wage comparable to or above men in similar posts in the organization. If he were truly a misogynist, there would be a large number of lawsuits against him and his businesses for discriminatory and oppressive work environments. Where are these suits. Compare this to the staff of the former Secretary of State, where women are routinely underpaid.

Examine the facts for yourselves. Do not let the mainstream media make the decision for you. They take their facts from the Democratic party tear sheets, or the vitriol of Moveon.org. Investigate the matter fully, and vote your conscience.

Medicaid for all?

It is apparent that the Democrats want to nationalize health care so that the government runs the show. Fabulous! Waiting lines, a bureaucrat approving your care. Why is it that the Canadians come to the States when they need something done well and done stat? Because we still have a private pay play that permits us to follow our doctor's advice as we see fit.

Having Government "pay" for healthcare or college or ***, seems attractive on its face until you realize that the Government produces nothing without taxing the hell out of us. And government bureaucracies are anything but efficient. They are massive Skinner boxes where if the "i's" are not dotted just so and the "t's" crossed exactly as needed, the service is denied but you have the right to appeal to another bureaucrat. As H.L. Mencken said, bureaucrats are automatons "with all the flexibility of a terrier at a rat hole."

The cost of having the government provide the payment is enormous even when compared to the profits netted by most health insurers. And health insurers have the years of experience understanding what appropriate treatment is and what it should cost. The government takes those numbers and chops reimbursement to doctors and hospitals to 40, 60 or in rare cases 80% of private reimbursement. How do we expect to maintain our superb quality healthcare system if we gut reimbursement? Oh yeah, a deep pay cut? Sign me up for that! lol

The Democrats control the inner cities, but seemingly refuse to address some of the key areas of concern like violence and lawlessness associated with the War on Drugs. Maybe it is because the very root of the Democratic Party likes lawlessness or being above the law, but we the people want safe homes and safe neighborhoods.

Let's examine decriminalization of substances. If we compare the Prohibition of Alcohol period to our current eighty year war on drugs, are there similaritie...

On my way to my doctor’s office for a work required test, I stopped off at Lafayette Industries North in Berkeley where Jim and Jerry were kind enough to take me on a tour. Lafayette Industries is a disability workshop employer which gives people with a variety of additional life challenges a place to go every day and be employed full-time.
I like the new language of differentially abled, because the people I met manifested a great variety of abilities with one uniform trait: cheerfulness and fulfillment. I cannot remember the last workplace I visited where workers sought out visitors and welcomed them with hugs and full eye contact. I can be a teary guy when it comes to things that fill my heart with joy, and Lafayette Industries is such a place.
It has two facilities: one on Manchester Road and another east of the airport currently undergoing a major renovation and expansion. It employs 383 people and has about 125 on a wait list to get in. Neither rain nor snow nor dark of dawn deters the workers from arrival and fulfillment of an eight hour shift. Many other employers give similar opportunities to people with additional life challenges, but it is rare that these employers can give full-time work. It is more frequently two or four hour shifts here and there.
The differences made in these lives for the individuals and the families who give them love and support is immeasurable except in hugs, tears of joy, and engaged conversations. Budget constraints at the state level put workshops like this at continual risk. I would rather see us move to a mirror propagation of such workshops to continue to assist those among us who have for whatever reason missed the boat as the economic tide ebbed and flowed.
A great part of our homeless population, for instance, struggles with one or more of what we commonly label disabilities. Could we rebuild neighborhoods that have declined, or save neighborhoods that risk decline, by a combination of altered instruction for youths and employment opportunities for the disaffected? Ours is a broad tent society: we need to mentor young men and women through work skills that teach them reading, communication and arithmetic skills while learning trades like plumber, electrician, bookkeeper, human resource management and more.
If given a chance and a choice, most of us would rather engage in an honest day’s labor in order to earn the right to relax after working. If we can improve our neighborhoods with skilled workers, we can provide them shelter that they have improved with our help. I see an opportunity for active and separated military personnel to provide their expertise in shaping this rebuilding and growth. My opponent seems to think that more burdensome federal debt thrown at programs that have not moved the needle on poverty, homeless and minimal competencies in literacy and math skills will make it all better. No, we the people want to be free to make it work if we work together.

An alternative to our Social Security funding. My opponent, 16-year incumbent Lacy Clay (following his father's 32 years in the chair) claims he has saved Social Security from raiding by Republicans. He is incorrect; limiting Social Security to the purchase of Treasuries as its sole investment has only fueled the rise of spending and debt while imperiling the Trust from which benefits are paid.

Allman in the Morning show, Thursday 15 Sep 0650. I hope you have time to listen. We need to end the 48-year-old Clay Friends and Family Plan in Missouri's 1st U.S. Congressional (House of Representatives) District.

Have a great day. I am off to teach Principles of Insurance and Risk Management at UMSL and Legal Environment of Business at the Meramec Campus of STLCC.

Let us compare Iran and Israel. Which would you prefer as our ally? One is an open democracy where citizenship and rights do not examine religious beliefs, gender, lifestyle and physical ability. The other is a theocracy which denies basic rights to people because of their gender, their lifestyle choices, and any and all disabilities. Yet Obama cozies up to the latter described country, and appears to want to disband the democratic country. I have seen photos where BH Obama gives a bear hug to Hugo Chavez, the destroyer of Venezuela, but looks with disdain at Benjamin Netanyahu.

How many lives has Israel improved? How many people have suffered death and devastation at the hands of the mullahs, to whom Neville O. just furnished 150B so they can buy missiles and continue their sponsorship of global terror? And don't get me started on the unmarked currency for hostages deal. Four more years of this?

There was a time when Israel had the undivided support of our nation. It appears that the Democratic party has shifted to supporting global terrorists. There is an alternative in the 1st District of Missouri for U.S. House of Representatives. We can end the 48-year rubber stamp of the established elites while returning power to the people. I am Steve Bailey, and I want your vote November 8, 2016 to help us re-establish government of the people, by the people and for the people.
