If you drive by Station 1 on Graves Street, you might notice that every Thursday night there’s a bunch of vehicles parked in the lot around 6:30 PM.

Over the course of the last year, we’ve held Thursday Duty Night. Members gather at the station to do maintenance, conduct training evolutions, socialize, and most Thursdays even share a meal together. Occasionally, while they’re at the station, we get toned out for an emergency call and are out the door with well-staffed crews in a fraction of our normal response time.

Tonight was no different. Members spent their Thursday night working on hose lays and advancements. They even got a chance to pull out 14-8-1 and stretch out its 100’ aerial platform ladder.

Both stations will have their doors open Saturday April 18th starting at 9am

Today our Air Boat was requested mutual aid to Brier Hill Fire Department in St. Lawrence County for a possible ice rescue. After communicating with the caller in Canada and pin pointing a location we completed a grid search. Our search came up negative and there was no signs of anyone being in the area.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Boonville Fire Department after an explosion injured four firefighters this morning.

A massive explosion tore through Abundant Life Fellowship Church in Boonville around 10:25 a.m. this morning — sending five people to the hospital, including the pastor and four Boonville firefighters.

Officials say crews were responding to a reported gas odor when the blast triggered “catastrophic damage” to the building. All five injured are in critical but stable condition as State Police continue investigating the cause and rule out criminal activity.

We would like to extend our thanks to the Village of Clayton DPW and Town of Clayton Highway Department for keeping our stations plowed and hydrants cleared of snow. These guys have worked around the clock all winter to ensure our roads are cleared and they deserve all the recognition we can give them.

A special shout out to Mike Dangerfield at Mowtivated Property Services for assisting in keeping our hydrants cleared out.

If you have hydrant near your house help us help you and keep the hydrants cleared of snow. Every second counts!

Stay safe and stay warm!
