I have received multiple phone calls about school zone lights not being turned on at multiple schools in the Town Of Clay, this includes the Liverpool and the CNS School Districts.
I talked to the Town Of Clay Highway superintendent Joe Nicoletti, who said the signals at Allen Road, Bear Road, and Seoul Road Elementary’s as well as Liverpool high school are not on and flashing. I was told that these schools had new signals put in by Syracuse Signal Company who has recently closed. I was also told that the signals were not activated before the company closed.
I just talked with the Onondaga County Sheriffs Department and they are going to have their patrol cars, patrol those areas more vigorously.
Joe Nicoletti has been in contact with the schools involved along with trying to get a hold of the closed Syracuse Signal Company. I have been in contact with some of the schools involved, but unfortunately have been unable to reach Syracuse Signal.
This is totally unacceptable and should’ve been rectified before the school year started. I know Joe Nicoletti is doing his best to rectify the situation. Let’s hope we get those lights on quickly!

The average price of regular gas was $4.15 a gallon on Labor Day, well above the Labor Day weekend record of $3.82 from 2012, and diesel was at a new all-time record of $5.90.
