Sorry for inconvenience and change to this post but some was misunderstood with original post want to clarify things.
Powell County residents have a new way to take part in the annual free trash disposal with Rumpke Waste & Recycling
Residents can now use a voucher (good for multiple trips April 10- 24) and take their trash to either the Montgomery County Landfill (30 LARISON Road Jeffersonville) or to Estill County Landfill (2700 Wi******er Road, Irvine). You can request your voucher by visiting the Powell County Transfer Station at 182 Transfer Station Road Clay City. Please call Solid Waste Coordinator Tim Snowden at 606-673-6410 or 606-481-9474 with any questions.
This is a continuation of a program Powell County has had in place for years with Rumpke, we are happy to have more options for our community, with the county covering the cost for you. Thanks to Powell County Judge-Executive Eddie Barnes, Tim Snowden and the Fiscal Court for making this happen with Rumpke.
Tires are NOT allowed. The Transfer Station take tires daily at a cost of $3.00 vehicle tires and semi trucks/ tractor tires are $10.00
Thank You

FREE COMPOST

Nearly all soil is improved with the addition of compost. I often recommend compost over synthetic fertilizers as compost improves the overall health of the soil while fertilizers are temporary.

If your garden soil could use improving, you are in luck. Tim Snowden at the Powell County Transfer Station has secured several loads. The compost is free and available for pickup. You can pick small amounts up to one Bobcat scoop per day.

This is a great opportunity to get a jumpstart on the garden season.

For question about compost and it's benefits, call the extension office at 663-6405.
