2023-2024 CCSWCD Tree Giveaway Registration Open till Friday September 22th
The Clay County Soil & Water Conservation District will kick off the 2023-2024 Tree/Shrub Giveaway. Our Goal is 2,024 trees in 2024.
There is a limit of 10 trees/shrubs per household/business. The event is open to all households and businesses in Clay County.
Requests will be taken on a first-come, first-serve basis until funds have been depleted. Registration will be taken from now until Friday, September 22, 2023. Trees are ordered this fall and participants will be notified in the spring when they are ready for pickup. Pickup date ranges from February through May and are dependent on weather and the nursery.

The seedlings are being ordered from Vallonia State Nursery, whose mission is to grow and distribute to Indiana landowners high-quality plant materials for conservation planting. Conservation plantings include plantings for timber, windbreaks, wildlife food and habitat, watershed and soil protection, reclamation and education.
The following species have been selected for this year’s giveaway:
1. Elderberry
2. Ninebark
3. Pawpaw
4. Shellbark Hickory
5. Shumard Oak
6. White Pine
Please note that if the requested species are not available at the time of ordering, then an available species will be selected.
