As we wrap up another wonderful school year at Lincoln Elementary, we want to thank our students, families, and community for your continued support, partnership, and encouragement throughout the year. It has been a joy watching our students learn, grow, and create lasting memories together.

To our 3rd graders, we are so proud of all you have accomplished during your time at Lincoln! While we will miss your smiling faces, we know you are ready for this next adventure at Garfield. We wish you the very best as you begin this exciting new chapter!

From all of us at Lincoln Elementary, we hope you have a safe, relaxing, and fun-filled summer. Enjoy the sunshine, make memories with family and friends, and take time to recharge. We look forward to seeing everyone again in the fall!

Thank you!

USD 379 Families,

Last night’s rain has compromised the basement area at Garfield Elementary, which is also a shelter in the event of inclement weather. We don’t normally close school based on forecasts, as we feel our students and staff are very safe in all of our buildings. However, in this case, we would need to transport students to other buildings, which is impractical and unsafe. We also utilize the same buses within multiple buildings for after-school transportation, which makes dismissing just Garfield impractical.

Because of this, USD 379 will have a 1 pm dismissal today.

Lunch will be served as usual. All after-school sports practices and evening activities have also been canceled, including Project LEAD. Please call the school with any changes to your child’s after-school schedule.

With the help of Renee Langvardt and the The Rex Theatre, Clay Center KS first grade teacher Mrs. Graham and her class performed a "Popcorn and Poetry" event today. During a poetry unit, her students picked out their favorite poem and memorized it. Then, they recited the poems on the theatre stage in front of family and friends!

Garfield had a great time hosting Lincoln 3rd graders last week at Movin' On Up Day! Students learned about Garfield School, met the staff, and took a tour of the building. A big shout-out to our 4th grade Movin' On Up Day leaders! They did a fantastic job!

Mrs. Carr's first graders have been learning new skills as part of her soft-start mornings. The students have been working on sewing plastic canvas projects, including choosing their colors and themes.

Sewing improves focus and fine motor skills, and the creative process boosts mood and mental health. The goal-driven nature of stitching has also been shown to improve cognitive health, reduce stress, and strengthen neural pathways.

Ms. Brownell's students got to walk the red carpet this morning! After publishing their book, "The World's Coolest Animals", they celebrated with fancy clothes, Hors d'oeuvres, and a reading, thanks to Ms. Brownell's decorating skills. Each student also got to take a copy home. It was a special day they will remember forever!
