We remember those who never came home, those who ran toward danger to help others, and the families whose lives were forever changed.

Clarksville joins communities across the nation in honoring their memory. We will never forget.

Congratulations, Deputy Chief Johnson!

🚒 CFD WELCOMES DEPUTY CHIEF KYLE JOHNSON 🚒

Along with the appointment of Fire Chief Tom Upton, the Clarksville Fire Department is proud to congratulate Kyle Johnson on his promotion to Deputy Chief.

Deputy Chief Johnson has served the Town of Clarksville and the Clarksville Fire Department for nearly 18 years. Throughout his career, he has continued to advance through the department while taking on increasing levels of responsibility, previously serving in the ranks of Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Major.
With Chief Upton's appointment as Fire Chief, Johnson has accepted the role of Deputy Chief and will now help lead the department into its next chapter.

His years of experience, knowledge of the department, and commitment to the firefighters and citizens of Clarksville make him a valuable addition to CFD's command staff.

We look forward to the leadership of Chief Upton and Deputy Chief Johnson as they work together to continue moving the Clarksville Fire Department forward while maintaining the high level of service our community has come to expect. 🚒👏

Congratulations, Chief Upton!

🚒 CLARKSVILLE FIRE DEPARTMENT WELCOMES FIRE CHIEF TOM UPTON 🚒
The Clarksville Fire Department would like to congratulate Tom Upton on his appointment as Fire Chief of the Clarksville Fire Department.
Chief Upton has dedicated more than 24 years of service to the Town of Clarksville, serving the department in numerous leadership roles throughout his career. He previously served as Fire Chief from 2010 through 2016 and, since that time, has continued serving CFD in the ranks of Sergeant, Major, and most recently, Deputy Chief.
Following the recent retirement of Chief Brent Wilson after 27 years of service, Deputy Chief Upton has accepted the responsibility of once again leading the Clarksville Fire Department as Fire Chief.
Chief Upton brings decades of experience, institutional knowledge, and a strong commitment to the firefighters of CFD and the citizens of Clarksville. His familiarity with our department, our community, and the responsibilities of the Chief's office will provide valuable leadership as CFD moves forward into its next chapter.

⚡️ Update from Duke Energy:

We identified the cause of the recent evening outages affecting some Clarksville customers. A power line serving the area was coming into contact with nearby equipment, causing service interruptions. Crews have made repairs, adjusted system configuration and redirected power. Teams remain on site monitoring conditions. We know these outages have been frustrating, and we apologize for the disruption. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

💡Regarding the electric outages that have occurred in the town over the past few days⚡️

Per a Duke Energy representative:

Some residents, approximately 1,500, in Clarksville, Ind., have had power outages around 8 p.m. for approximately an hour the past several evenings. We have identified the problem is a power line coming out a nearby substation that is sagging into another line due to high power demands in the evening . These are not rolling blackouts due to heat; there are adequate power supplies. The problem is a power line. While crews have patrolled lines in the area as soon as the outages have occurred, the line returns to its normal position fairly quickly which is why it has been difficult to identify the problem. Last night we positioned field workers overnight to observe the lines in the area and identified what is occurring. They are working right now to see if power demand can be redirected to other lines serving the area. Advanced “self-healing” technology did operate successfully and limited the number of customers affected by isolating the problem.

At yesterday’s town council meeting Fire Chief Brent Wilson was presented with a proclamation acknowledging his 27 years of service to the Town of Clarksville. Chief Wilson held multiple roles within the fire department over his tenure. Chief Wilson will be resigning his position with the town effective September 8. We wish Brent our best in his future endeavors and thank him and his family for his service to our community. You will be missed.
