🌪️ BIG Changes to Severe Weather Outlooks!
It’s Severe Weather Awareness Week in Arkansas, and the Storm Prediction Center (SPC) is rolling out a brand-new way to track storms this Spring.

🛑 What’s New?
In the past, the map colors mostly told you the probability (chance) of a storm. Now, the colors represent Overall Risk—combining the chance of a storm with how intense it’s likely to be.

📊 The Two Layers of Protection:
The Colors (Overall Risk): Still 1 through 5 (Marginal to High). Higher categories now mean a higher risk of both storm frequency and potential damage.

The Hatching (Intensity): Look for the lines drawn over the colors! These tell you the maximum "punch" a storm might pack:

No Hatching: Standard severe (1" hail, 60 mph winds).

Level 1 (Dashed /): Golf ball hail, 70 mph winds, EF2 tornadoes.

Level 2 (Solid /): Baseball hail, 80 mph winds, EF3 tornadoes.

Level 3 (Crossed X): Softball+ hail, 90+ mph winds, EF4+ tornadoes.

💡 The Bottom Line:
If you see warm colors (Orange/Red/Magenta) overlapping with cross-hatching (X), the risk for high-impact, damaging weather is significant.

Stay weather-aware this season! ⛈️👇
