From June 20–July 11, residents and visitors will have the chance to explore patriotic-themed drinks at participating restaurants, cafes, bars, and beverage businesses throughout the Clarkston/Independence Township area.

We're putting the finishing touches on the event and can't wait to share the lineup of creative drinks, voting categories, prizes, and participating locations.

It was an amazing time at the Clarkston Community Historical Society and Heritage Museum celebration on May 28. The open meeting informed the public on what the historical society was doing in the community, information about the group and highlighted the opening of their new exhibit celebrating America 250 at the Clarkston Independence District Library

In order to enjoy all of the wonderful sourdough bread she is able to make, you must move your body and the best way to do that is through tennis. Luckily for Nikole Carlson she is really good at tennis. Carlson is the assistant coach with the Clarkston High School girls varsity tennis team, the club manager at the Troy Racquet Club and teaches classes with Independence Township Parks, Recreation & Seniors . Carlson was recently recognized for her work after receiving the RSPA Small Facility Manager of the Year and the USTA 35x35 President's Impact Award.

Through a grant from the David W. Elliot Memorial foundation, Christine Rogers with the Clarkston Academic Service Learning was able to institute projects across Clarkston Community Schools celebrating America 250 Clarkston & Independence Township.
Begining in February, Nine projects were spread across the elementary, middle, junior high and high school that not only celebrated America's birthday but gave back to the community.

Congratulations to Renee Weaver-Wright on winning the Lifetime Achievement Award.
The award recognizes an individual that has gicen his/her time, energy and talents to improve our community over the course of time.
