FOP Lodge #78 Junior Police Academy The Academy is FREE OF CHARGE to sixty (60) participants ages 8 yrs - 15yrs based on the application that is required. D.W. Messenger.

You can pick up an application from the Clarksburg Police Dept and it must be returned ASAP. Forms that are filled out incorrectly or incompletely will be discarded, so double check the forms before submitting them. They may be returned by mail, fax or hand delivered to the Clarksburg Police Dept c/o Sgt. The Academy will be held at the former Gore Middle School, now the Harrison County Alternativ

e Learning Center. The Junior Police Academy will be divided into two groups:

Ages 8 - 11 will attend July 11-15th. Ages 12-15 will attend July 25-29th. Both Academies' will run from 8:00am to 4:00 pm

ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST BE PICKED UP NO LATER THAN 5:00 PM. Snacks and lunch will be provided daily.

Day 4…

Cadets got the privilege of learning internet safety from the Legend, former Bridgeport PD and now White Hall PD Officer Gary Weaver.

We followed with a visit to the Bridgeport Fire Dept. Cadets got the grand tour of the facility and equipment before watching them demonstrate the jaws of life on a vehicle.

Weather provided us with a great day for our annual community service project, a free car wash.

We got our gym back!!

Off Hamrick (the younger one) demonstrated some cuffing and apprehension skills. Somehow he convinced Off Fiber to do a taser demo too 😬

Cadets learned and experienced field sobriety tests with the aid of impairment simulating goggles. Later they learned about the effects of va**ng and other ni****ne products.

Ground Zero came to give us some instruction on self defense, with cadets able to safely try out some moves. The “don’t try this at home on your little sister” warning was given, so we are blameless!! 😆

Well the city election may have displaced us, but we had a blast anyway!

Big thanks to Deputy King and his K9 Voodoo for doing an awesome demonstration for us.

The Harrison Co Sheriffs Dept SWAT vehicle prob got some attention on Johnson Ave, as the cadets learned about the gear and tactics from team members.

Officer Gregor brought a few BPD drones to show off to the cadets.

And we capped off our displacement with a walk to DQ 🍦

A few glimpses of the week so far. Among the things the campers have learned this week…

-Some basic self defense strategies from Ground Zero BJJ…thx so much for volunteering your time!

-How the firemen deal with making entry to a burning structure, as well as learning and experiencing their equipment…big thx Chief Hart and BFD!

-Why it’s not a good idea to run away from a police K9 😬😬😬 Thx Sgt Harris, K9 Filou and especially Dep Kraemer for taking the “bite”!

What the instructors have learned…we aren’t as young as we used to be 😆😬😆
