Are Maryland drivers truly among the worst nationwide?

ONE week. FOUR work zone crashes!

We’re grateful no one was seriously injured, but we’re frustrated. The men and women working in our work zones are simply doing their jobs—important jobs that keep Maryland’s roads safe. Drivers have an equally important responsibility to keep them safe in return.

Once again, we're reminding EVERY DRIVER to move over or slow down, drive sober and pay attention. We all want to go home. Move over or slow down. It's the law!

Thanks to our friends here for joining SafeRoadsMD Maryland Coalition for Roadway Safety, Inc. at this afternoon's Rockville Public Service Awards luncheon convened by the Greater Rockville Chamber of commerce.

It struck me that the awardees are everyday people, with the exception that they are highly trained and don't hesitate to risk a great deal to save others. In other words, they are not really everyday people but rather extraordinary public citizens who deserve acclaim, and frankly whom we can never adequately repay.

Left to right,
First row:

Hope Klein, Senior Legislative Assistant, Montgomery County Government Policy, Constituent Services & Community Engagement
Jake Jakubek, Chair, Rockville Bicycle Advisory Committee
Bryan Barnett-Woods, Rockville Traffic and Transportation Division Department of Public Works, principal transportation planner/pedestrian and bicycle coordinator. He is also Rockville’s new Vision Zero coordinator.
Rhona Bosin, SafeRoadsMD communications director

Top row:
Thomas Canavan, Greater Olney Civic Association (GOCA), Chief Operating Officer of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund
Brigid P**a Howe, Executive Director, Nonprofit Montgomery, road safety advocate
Evan Glass, Montgomery County Councilmember, and County Executive office candidate
John Seng, SafeRoadsMD founder and chair

I-270 is today, lethal. We need automated enforcement of the posted 55mph on this roadway. Nearly all drivers speed. Some drivers die.

A man was killed after a two-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer on the express lanes of Interstate 270 on Friday.
