We are grateful for the generous support of the following individuals who sponsored lunches during Law Enforcement week. We appreciate each of your contributions and thank you for recognizing the hard work of our law enforcement officers. On Monday, we had the pleasure of enjoying SUBWAY, courtesy of Tom Bryant, Dr. Suter, and AnneMarie, manger of catering service at Subway. Tuesday was pizza day, with Dominos, Priminti Brothers, East of Chicago, and Fat Angelo’s providing pizza for the Deputies. Wednesday, we were treated to Kaz’s BBQ, sponsored by RDR Corporation. Thursday, we enjoyed Texas Roadhouse, sponsored by Robey Excavating. Finally, on Friday, we had Oliverios, sponsored by Bridgeport Express Care. We could not have enjoyed these meals without the support of these sponsors. We offer our sincerest gratitude to each of you. Also, a huge shoutout to Sheena Deem for the strawberry pies and Heather Burnside for the 9 dozen galettes. You all rock!!!

To the Deputies and Families of Our Law Enforcement Division,

During this year’s National Police Week, I want to personally express my deepest gratitude and recognition to each of you for your service, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to our community.

To our deputies — thank you for answering the call every day with courage, professionalism, and integrity. The work you do is often difficult, demanding, and unseen by many, yet it remains essential to the safety and well-being of the people we serve. Whether on patrol, responding to emergencies, conducting investigations, or supporting operations behind the scenes, your dedication reflects the very best of this profession.

National Police Week is also a time to remember and honor the fallen officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. We carry forward their legacy through our continued commitment to service, honor, and brotherhood.

To the families of our deputies — thank you. Your support, patience, and sacrifices make it possible for our deputies to fulfill this calling. You stand beside them through long hours, missed holidays, difficult days, and uncertain moments. Your strength and encouragement are an invaluable part of this agency’s success, and we recognize that service is shared by the entire family.

I am proud to serve alongside such dedicated men and women. Your professionalism, compassion, resilience, and commitment to protecting others do not go unnoticed. On behalf of this office and the community we proudly serve, thank you for all that you do each and every day.

Please stay safe, watch out for one another, and know that your service is respected and appreciated.

Sincerely,
Sheriff Matheny

Happy National Police week.

On Monday April 20th, 2026 the Harrison County Citizen Sheriff’s Academy held its 3rd annual graduation ceremony. This year we had 15 that completed the academy. Graduate’s and guests were welcomed by DSR and coordinator for the Harrison County Citizens Sheriff’s Academy, Mike Lambiotte. The keynote speaker was Megan Currey who is a Liaison Specialist with the FBI’s Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division. This is a wonderful program that helps to have a deeper understanding of the Sheriff’s Office’s role in Harrison County. Coordinator Lambiotte is already getting ready for the next Academy and we hope to have an even bigger graduating class.

The Harrison County Sheriff's Office is mourning the death of one of our own. Sheriff Marano, a 30 year veteran in Law Enforcement, lost his battle with cancer on Thursday. Albert started his Law Enforcement career at Nutter Fort PD and then eventually was hired by our office. Marano, started on patrol and was Chief Deputy for 8 years under former Sheriff Jim Jack. Albert retired from the Sheriff's Office and ran for Sheriff of Harrison County where he completed two terms. We are sending out Prayers to his family and friends. Rest easy Sheriff, we will take it from here.

The Hotsinpiller Foundation's commitment to our community is truly appreciated, and we would like to express our sincere thanks. Today, they finalized the 2nd round of drug detection kits for all the K-9’s that are actively working alongside their handlers. Deputies King and Kraemer, along with K-9 Voodoo, from the HCSO, showcased their skills in a demonstration for those in attendance today. We are grateful for these kits, which will undoubtedly be a useful resource. 💙🖤🐾🐾💙🖤
