It’s 🩷

Our adoption boards have been updated just in time for 🍂 fall 🍂 !

We have tons of adoptable kitties and pups at the shelter. All our animals are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vetting and vaccines, microchipped, have had dewormer and flea/tick prevention, and have had a rabies vaccine if old enough.

We LOVE getting to meet people in our community by doing these boards. It means so much to us that our local businesses let us display adoption boards at their locations. It really helps get our animals seen more in the public AND allows us to get to know our community better.

It’s with our besties Cole and Darrell from the Mountain Morning Show on WCHM! 📻

Meet Mandy, the gentle soul who’s been quietly waiting for her turn. 🐾✨

While other dogs rush the gate to put on a big show, Mandy is the girl sitting softly in the background. She doesn't bark or demand attention—she just quietly watches and hopes someone notices her. Because of her sweet, polite nature, she’s one of those amazing dogs who easily gets overlooked and falls through the cracks.

Mandy came to us as a stray back in July, and sadly, no one ever came looking for her. She can be a little cautious when meeting new people at first, but once she knows you? Get ready for a total lovebug who is all about giving sweet, warm kisses! 💋❤️

This handsome guy we are calling William was found near the Domino’s Pizza in Cornelia with an injury we couldn't explain—his collar had somehow become embedded in his chest, leaving behind a horrible, infected wound that had gone without care for far too long. He was obviously in so much pain, but even then, he never offered to even look at us sideways.

It really does take a village, and we are so beyond grateful for ours. We want to thank the kind community member who spotted him and called it in, as well as the animal control officer who responded late that night after already working a full shift to get him to safety.

He’s just the gentlest, most sensitive soul. He’s talkative, walks beautifully on a leash, and seems totally housebroken—you can tell he was someone's loved pet once. He had no ID, and while it's easy to assume the worst with an injury like this, please remember he could have been lost for a very long time. His family may be searching for him and have no idea he’s hurt, so we ask everyone to keep an open heart. If you recognize him, please let us know right away so he can be home where he belongs.

The team at Northeast Veterinary Hospital - NEVH in Cornelia saw him immediately, and a special thank you to Dr. Dunnigan for taking such compassionate care of him. Because his injury was so severe and sensitive, he had to be sedated just so they could remove the collar and then safely clean and treat the area. If you would like to help, donations toward his initial emergency hospital bill can be made directly to NEVH in person or by phone at 706-778-1900. Thanks to donations, we are able to get injured animals the immediate emergency care they need 💕

Right now, a big part of his ongoing treatment is honey bandaging changed daily. Natural honey is incredible for severe wounds because it acts as an antibacterial barrier, calms inflammation, and helps healthy new skin grow. A huge thank you to Commissioner Bruce Harkness for his recent donation of LOCAL and 💯% natural honey—that exact gift is being used on his bandages every single day to help him heal. 🐝 🍯

He is resting, healing, and waiting on his stray hold until the 13th in hopes of reuniting with his family. If we aren't able to find them by then, he will officially be looking for a new, loving home to start fresh.
