🚨 TRAFFIC ALERT: GA 365 FULLY SHUT DOWN

A wreck on GA 365 at Demorest-Mt. Airy Highway has the highway and intersection fully shut down.

➡️ Those needing to reach Demorest Elementary School or Hilliard Wilbanks Middle School should enter from Central Avenue in Demorest.

🚧 Detours:
• Northbound GA 365 traffic is being detoured onto Iron Ore Road.
• Southbound GA 365 traffic is being detoured onto Double Bridge Road.

⚠️ This is expected to be a prolonged closure. Please plan accordingly, allow extra time, and seek alternate routes.

Tornado Siren Testing:

We are currently working on the tornado sirens located at Station 13 on Habersham Mills Road. While repairs and maintenance are underway, you may hear the sirens being activated for testing.

Please do not be alarmed. These tests are part of our repair process, and there is no emergency or immediate danger. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to ensure the sirens are functioning properly.

We always enjoy the opportunity to greet our students as they head back to school and see those smiling faces on the first day! It’s a great reminder of why we’re so proud to serve this community.

Habersham County was proud to host a two-day GPSTC Crash Victim Extraction Course, bringing together firefighters and emergency personnel from Habersham County Emergency Services, Baldwin Fire Department, and Cornelia Fire Department.

Over the course of two days, participants worked through realistic crash scenarios and gained valuable hands-on experience in victim extrication techniques, ensuring they are prepared when emergencies arise and every second counts.

Opportunities like this strengthen regional partnerships and help ensure our first responders have the training and resources needed to continue serving our communities at the highest level.

A special thank you to Hulsey Wrecker Service, Cantrell Towing Service, and Curt’s towing Service for generously help procure the vehicles used during the training. Community partnerships like these play an important role in making hands-on training opportunities possible.
