WHERE WOULD YOU GO?

Yesterday a family emergency plan was made. Today, letโ€™s take the next step:

Choose your meeting places.

If you had to leave your home in an emergency, would everyone know where to go?

๐Ÿ  Choose one meeting place near your home.
๐Ÿ“ Choose another outside your neighborhood.
๐Ÿ“ฑ Make sure everyone knows methods to communicate (and not just via cellphone)
๐Ÿš— Know how you will get there.

Remember, do not just talk about it, practice your plan!

Prepared families help build stronger communities.

Dangerous triple-digit heat index values continue on Thursday east of the mountains. We still anticipate a risk of heat-related illnesses like heat stroke and dehydration. Stay hydrated and avoid strenuous outdoor work when possible.

It is almost unheard of for an entire 911 center staff to be able to attend an event together. Someone always has to be there to man the phones and radios because the calls never stop.

Don from White County came to me at a conference and asked my thoughts on creating a team that could help each other so our entire teams could come together for a short period of time, I was all for it. We met, discussed the idea, and came together to create a local TERT team.

With White County hosting their first inaugural Public Safety Event, Habersham County Central Communications has been training with White County E911 over the last couple of months to allow their 911 operators the opportunity to attend.

Here are four of our awesome staff members โ€” Beth, Grant, Summer, and Kailey โ€” who worked White County E911 on Saturday.

It appears this was the first of many opportunities, and we couldnโ€™t be more excited about whatโ€™s ahead. The next step will be getting White County 911 staff over to train with us!

Habersham County Central Communications has an awesome group of people, and I am so proud of each and every one of them. This is what teamwork and supporting one another in public safety is all about! ๐Ÿ’™
