Nearly 3,000 names. But behind every name is a person… A parent. A spouse. A son or daughter. A friend. A coworker. A neighbor.

The National September 11 Memorial & Museum works to ensure that September 11 is remembered not simply as an event in American history, but through the lives of the people who experienced it.

As we approach the 25th anniversary, we invite you to spend some time exploring the 9/11 Memorial & Museum online. Read the stories. Learn about those we lost, those who survived, and the thousands who answered the call to help. Because when we know their stories, we do more than remember a date. We remember them.

Motorists are advised that shoulder and partial lane closures are expected on Raritan Road near the Clark Reservoir on Thursday, September 3, from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Traffic will remain open in both directions, but delays may occur as these operations are associated with the Union County Clark Reservoir project.

For one night, New York had something to cheer about again.

Ten days after the attacks, the Mets returned to Shea Stadium for the first professional sporting event in New York City since September 11. The Mets trailed the Atlanta Braves 2–1 in the eighth inning when Mike Piazza stepped to the plate. Then came the home run. The crowd erupted.

For a city carrying unimaginable grief, baseball could not erase what had happened. But for a few moments, it gave thousands of people permission to cheer again. Sometimes healing begins with the smallest return to normal.
