On Saturday, May 16th, 20 people gathered for a Forestry Walk at the Rimersburg Rod & Gun Club in Rimersburg, PA that included presentations on sustainable forestry practices for a changing world such as deer exclusion fences to increase forest regeneration, invasive species removal (both mechanical and chemical), and more! This event was coordinated by the Clarion Conservation District.

Special thanks to our knowledgeable partners who presented during the walk: Levi Thompson, Service Forester with DCNR Forestry Bureau; Dave Cole, Previous Service Forester/Currently PA Department of Agriculture; Kelly Culbertson, Cook Forest Conservancy; Emily Rojik, Educator with Penn State Extension; and Brian Slagle, Retired U.S. Forest Service/Rimersburg Rod & Gun Club secretary.

Participants all received a beautiful native tree from TWIGS Tree Nursery with a tree stake and tube and five lucky winners of the raffle received an “Invasive Species Removal Kit” that included a shovel, loppers, pick mattock, gloves, safety glasses, spray bottles, compostable trash bags, etc.

Thank you to the Rimersburg Rod & Gun Club for providing the venue/land to host the walk!

Financial support for the “Enhancing Climate and Water Education in Clarion County” project has been provided by the Department of Environmental Protection’s 2025 Environmental Education Grant Program.

Additional financial support was received through a Remake Learning Days mini grant- thank you Riverview Intermediate Unit #6 for all you do to make Remake Learning Days happen!
