Today marks the anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Miranda v. Arizona decision (1966).

The ruling established what became known as Miranda rights and significantly changed law enforcement interviews, interrogations, and criminal investigations in the United States. Nearly 60 years later, it remains one of the most influential court decisions affecting police work.

Congratulations to Garret Marckmann and his 2000 Dodge Viper for being selected as the winner of the “Most Likely to Be Stopped by Police” award at the 12th Annual Cruzin’ Clarinda Car Show!

The trophy was presented by Police Chief Keith Brothers.

A special thank you to the Clarinda Chamber of Commerce, the event sponsors, and the many volunteers whose hard work and dedication made the 12th Annual Cruzin’ Clarinda event possible. Today, we remember the courage, sacrifice, and determination of the Allied forces who stormed the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944.
On the 82nd anniversary of D-Day, we honor the heroes who fought to preserve freedom and the thousands who gave their lives in service to a cause greater than themselves.
Their bravery changed the course of history. We will never forget.

Please slow down in neighborhoods, stay off your phone, and keep an extra eye out for kids enjoying summer break.

Parents, a quick helmet and “look both ways” reminder goes a long way too.

This Memorial Day, the members of the Clarinda Police Department honor and remember the brave men and women of our United States Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

Their courage, dedication, and selflessness will never be forgotten. As we gather with family and friends today, we pause to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day and express our deepest gratitude to those who gave their lives defending the freedoms we enjoy every day.
