John B. & Margaret Moore Jacobs Park & Museum

John B. & Margaret Moore Jacobs Park & Museum Come visit this historic and Southern park & museum in the Arkansas Delta! Enjoy all from antebellum antiques, to picturesque gardens.

The Jacobs Park & Museum offers wayfaring strangers and locals a like a chance to step off the beaten path and journey back in time. It is not so far back through time that you cannot relate, but just far enough to where time slows down. Located just off of I-40, nearly halfway between Little Rock and Memphis, Clarendon sits along the once well traveled White River. The "Dear Little House," home

of Dr. Margaret Moore Jacobs (1900-1976), noted author and personality from Clarendon, her "chapel study" along with her yard and gardens are open and beckoning travelers and individuals to come and experience peace and joy. Tour the "Dear Little House" (built in 1870 by John Wesley Moore, Jacobs' grandfather), stroll through verdant gardens planted by Dr. Jacobs, and sit in the gardens and watch migritory birds bathe in the fountains. Plan your wedding to be held in the chapel, on the lawn, or in one of the gardens. Whether it is for history, beauty, or love, we invite you to visit the Jacobs Park & Museum.

This is one of, if not the most important cause in our community at this time. Please sign this petition asking Sen. John Boozman to step up and act in the saving of the Historic White River Bridge at Clarendon.

John Boozman: Calling on Senator John Boozman to Help Save Our White River Bridge!

02/15/2018

Make sure to pick up a copy of tomorrow's AR Democrat Gazette for our second letter to the editor answering the recently published opposition to saving the bridge (see our post from Feb. 4 and letter "Is the bridge worth saving?").

In case you missed out first letter to the editor in Monday's paper, here's a snapshot of the article, written by our Executive Director, Doug Friedlander.

Hey Folks, we really need you to take a few minutes and call Congressman Crawford and let him know you support saving the bridge. It doesn't take long and we need to make sure those who represent us in D.C. know it is as important to us as it truly is. SO much will be lost if the Historic White River Bridge at Clarendon is destroyed.

Thank you all! Please share this post also!

IT'S NOW OR NEVER: Last week, we were fortunate to have an extraordinary face-to-face meeting with leaders whose very decision (soon) can make or break our mission to save the bridge. We need to ensure the support of our congressman, Rick Crawford, whose office receives "just as many calls against the bridge as for it." This page has over *3,000* likes and we need you to PICK UP THE PHONE for 30 SECONDS (the EASIEST 30 seconds of your life!).

Here's all you need to do:
1) Call this number: 870-203-0540 [see below for nights & weekends]
2) Tell them "I'm calling to tell Congressman Crawford that I support the work to adapt the White River Bridge at Clarendon." They may ask for your name or zip code and then they will say, "Thanks. I'll pass it on to the Congressman."

That's it! Thirty seconds or less!

NIGHT? WEEKEND? Call anyway. You'll receive their "hotline" on which you "leave your comments and concerns to the Congressman." Say your name, tell them you're a registered voter in the Congressman's district (if true), and that you support the work to preserve the Clarendon Bridge. Then hang up. That's it!

If you made a call and you're proud you did, add a comment to this post saying you made the call! :)

FINALLY, don't forget to "Share" and "Like" this post.

The acrylic call has been crafted using the finest expertise as only the legendary Alvin Taylor of Taylor Made Calls can bestow. Learning his craft from “Fruit Juice,” Stinson carries on the legacy of quality craftsmanship.
