UPDATE
Zebra Families, Claremore Public Schools (CPS), in coordination with the Claremore Police Department (CPD), has determined that the reported potential threat this morning was a swatting incident and has been deemed not credible. CPD’s investigation determined the call originated from what AT&T identified as a spoofed phone number. The lockdown at Claremore High School and secure-in-place protocols at Will Rogers Junior High and Roosa Elementary have been lifted. All schools have returned to normal operations, and all students and staff are safe. Out of an abundance of caution and to provide additional peace of mind for our students, staff, and families, CPD will continue to maintain a strong law enforcement presence at our schools today. We are grateful to the CPD and our School Resource Officers for their immediate and thorough response. We also thank our students and staff for following safety protocols and cooperating throughout the incident. We know situations like this can be concerning for our families. Please know that the safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority, and we will always take reports of potential threats seriously and respond accordingly. Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and trust in Claremore Public Schools.

Claremore Public Schools is aware of a reported potential threat involving Claremore High School this morning. All students and staff are safe.

____________________

Upon receiving the report, Claremore Police Department, the School Resource Officer, and school administration responded immediately. As a precaution, Claremore High School is on lockdown, while Will Rogers Junior High and Roosa Elementary are in secure-in-place status

Law enforcement is on site and actively investigating the report and securing the buildings. During this time, no one will be permitted to enter or leave the affected buildings.

We ask families and community members to avoid coming to the campuses and keep school phone lines clear, so staff and law enforcement can remain focused on the response.

We understand families will want additional information. We will provide verified updates through the CPS website and mobile app as they become available.

🎡 FUN FACT FRIDAY: Fair Edition! 🎪

With the Rogers County Fair right around the corner, we are getting hyped for all the rides, exhibits, and midway magic! To celebrate Fun Fact Friday, here are 4 mind-blowing facts about your favorite fair traditions to share with your friends while you're hanging out at the Claremore Expo Center this year:

🦷 1. Cotton Candy’s Sweet Irony: Did you know the fluffy carnival staple was actually co-invented by a DENTIST? In 1897, dentist William Morrison teamed up with candy maker John C. Wharton to create the spun-sugar machine. They originally named it "Fairy Floss" before it took the world by storm!
🍴 2. The "Deep-Fried" Revolution: Ever wonder why we deep-fry everything from Oreos to butter? It didn’t start as a culinary dare—it was pure convenience! Early fair vendors needed a clever way to serve hot food quickly without needing forks, spoons, or plates. Frying created a self-contained, sturdy shell you could eat on the move.
🗼 3. The Ferris Wheel War: The iconic midway Ferris Wheel was actually built to rival Europe’s Eiffel Tower! George Washington Gale Ferris Jr. designed the very first wheel for Chicago’s 1893 World’s Fair to prove that American engineering could create something just as breathtaking and monumental.
🏅 4. Blue Ribbon Pride: If you are hoping to take home top honors in the livestock or exhibit halls this year, you are chasing a royal tradition. The custom of awarding a blue ribbon for first place stems from the prestigious Cordon Bleu (Blue Ribbon) worn by members of the highest order of French knighthood, which became a global symbol of excellence.

Who is ready for fair food, carnival lights, and Blue Ribbon fun? The Rogers County Fair will be September 17th-20th at the Claremore Expo Center - we hope to see you there!
