One of the reasons Oklahoma is recognized as a national leader in election integrity is because our system was intentionally built with checks and balances.

Under Oklahoma law, election boards and precinct officials are structured to be bipartisan. Republicans and Democrats work side-by-side throughout the election process, from checking voters in, to issuing ballots, to securing and returning election materials at the end of the night.

That system wasn’t created by accident. It was designed to protect transparency, accountability, and public confidence in elections.

Our founders understood something important: people may not always agree politically, but when citizens work together under the rule of law, the republic is stronger. Different viewpoints at the table help ensure fairness and keep any one side from having unchecked control.

That’s why poll workers matter so much.

These are ordinary citizens willing to spend long days serving their communities so elections remain fair, secure, and transparent. They are teachers, retirees, veterans, business owners, parents, and neighbors. They set aside politics to do a job that is bigger than themselves.

In many ways, poll workers are the glue that helps hold our constitutional republic together.

Their service deserves respect, regardless of party

We still need more Democrats to sign up to be poll workers so we can have an even balance.

We’re receiving a lot of calls and Facebook comments regarding new voter registration cards arriving in mailboxes. We wanted to help explain what happened regarding polling place changes for the June 16 Election.

First — Rogers County did not “fail.”
We had FIVE polling locations that required relocation, several of which were confirmed only last week, with two finalized as late as Thursday.

Because of the timing, we simply did not have enough voter cards on hand to accommodate the volume of printing required. So we sent a letter to some. Additional cards arrived today. State law required us to have notifications mailed by Saturday, and over 7,000 voter registration cards were processed and sent out.

We completely understand that receiving a new card unexpectedly can be confusing or frustrating. Please know these changes were not made lightly, and in every case we worked diligently to secure locations that best serve voters and our communities.

Here are the polling place changes:

• Precinct 2 relocated because First Presbyterian is undergoing renovations. The owner of the Wedding Chapel, just two blocks north, generously offered their facility for the remainder of this year.

• Precinct 5 relocated from the Water Department after they were no longer able to accommodate elections. Tiawah Community Church graciously stepped up to host.

• Precinct 9 temporarily relocated from the Assembly of God due to a scheduling conflict. Rogers State University generously offered Chapman Dining Hall for this election.

• Precinct 17 needed a more accessible facility after outgrowing its previous location. Westside Holiness Church stepped forward and offered their building.

• Precinct 128 at Heritage Bible relocated because the church property sold. After an extensive search, we were thankful The Nut House agreed to host the precinct.

Some of these moves are temporary. Others involved months of searching for suitable locations that meet state requirements and adequately serve voters.

We are incredibly grateful to every church, business, university, and community partner that stepped up to help ensure Rogers County voters continue to have safe, accessible polling locations.

As always, if you have questions about your polling place, please contact the Rogers County Election Board and we will gladly assist you.
